Question is very clear. But I will repeat with some qualifiers.

The question is not asked in religious context only but answer can be given on any other reason(s).

Is contraception or any measure to avoid/prevent pregnancy wrong,… when couples male and female, engage in sexual activity (as husband and wife)?

No matter either pregnancy avoided/prevented, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born. Its all depend on intention.
