a way to console ourselves for death of our dear ones?
If there was no concept of ‘life after death’ and no hope to see our dear ones who departed from the world, how could we coup with the concept of eternal departure?
I know historically, there have been societies who don’t have concept or belief in life after death and still there are people who consider it useless religious theory. How such people could / can coup with the eternal departure of their dear ones?

If Allah provides sustenance to those who don’t believe in Him and hereafter, He provides them patience too.

Agree, but what about the human side. What thoughts console them, if they don’t believe that there is life after death.

I don’t think thats what the reason for belief in life after death. I think, its more to do with the purpose for your life on earth, like if you do bad things or good things. It wouldn’t be worth striving to do good if there was nothing afterwards.

i personally think fear of death is the primary reason for belief in God and religion. to understand the concept of eternal departure is too much for us to handle as we are programmed to live, jut like other animals as well. we need assurance that we will live forever. i don’t believe in life after death but i would rather accept what i think is true than accept false assurance of eternal life.

Life after death is a basic tenet of Islam. So we’ve been told about it as it is something that requires effort and preparation. It might comfort you in times of loss. It also establishes a sense of accountability for actions in this life.

Okay, so no one is addressing actual question. How people who don’t have belief in life after death, coup with death of their dear ones, when they don’t believe in reunion.

I guess then we just have to accept that people have finite lives and when it’s time, then that’s it. We grew up with the idea that there is life after death. If we had grown up believing there is no such as an afterlife, then that would be the norm and we would be accustomed to that reality.

Is is that easy?
some times people depart suddenly without saying anything. There are air crashes and other accidents leading to sudden deaths, where people even can’t find remains of their loved one. Is it that easy for them to live with the concept that there will be no reunion?

Contact one such individual and ask him that specifically. Cause knowing someone with this belief is one thing and knowing this info you are looking for is another. And i think even muslims dont think of life after death in the sense you are implying. Kabhi zindagi insaan ko chalati hai despite him not wanting to live.

But don’t you feel a person having belief in life after death is comparatively in better position to coup with such situation?
To me, the biggest comfort i get from life after death is the concept of the judgment day. It will be very disappointing if there is none, and all the qatil, luteray Osamas and Zardari likes would not be punished.

i don’t believe in life after death. its hard to imagine being dead forever but whats the point in worrying something i have no control over. so i just let it be.
