Just because "climate change movement" is promoted by bankers doesn't prove that climate change is not happening.

Claim: Global cooling, not warming, is Earth’s coming threat

BY: Paul Bedard August 5, 2013 | 12:00 am

The war between former Vice President Al Gore and his critics over global warming is about to hit the boiling point with a new claim that Sun-influenced climate change is shifting into reverse, with the Earth poised to head into a period of cooling that will end the rise of the oceans.

A global warming critic on Monday announced plans to release new data showing that the threat of rising global sea levels has peaked and that the Sun is entering a “hibernation” period that could bring colder weather.

“Like most major climate events, the past sea level rise was caused by the Sun and had little or nothing to do with mankind’s industrial greenhouse gas emissions,” said John Casey, a former White House and NASA advisor and climate author. “Now that the Sun has entered a state of ‘solar hibernation’ and is cutting back on the energy by which it warms the Earth, a new and potentially dangerous decades-long drop in global temperatures has begun,” he warned.

Casey is the president of the Space and Science Research Corporation and author “Cold Sun,” which predicts the coming cooling period. Because his predictions go against the mainstream, he has been ridiculed by supporters of global warming. Media Matters called him a “scam artist.”

Gore and other global warming proponents believe that pollution from carbon dioxide is causing climate change. Others like Casey believe that the Earth’s weather is simply going through a cyclical period of warmth. President Obama sides with Gore.

Casey said that he will unveil his information in three weeks in Miami, a city global warming proponents have warned will be under water due to the melting polar ice cap.

In a statement, Casey said:

"One of the myths of manmade climate change caused by human CO2 emissions has been the threat to the world’s largest cities caused by global sea level rise. Two years ago we issued a preliminary finding that within two or three years the data to make a final assessment on the future of global sea level rise would be available. That data is in. It is time to provide a formal statement on the end of global sea level rise, the latest phase of which began roughly two hundred years ago.

“Like most major climate events, the past sea level rise was caused by the Sun and had little or nothing to do with mankind’s industrial greenhouse gas emissions. Now that the Sun has entered a state of ‘solar hibernation’ and is cutting back on the energy by which it warms the Earth, a new and potentially dangerous decades-long drop in global temperatures has begun. The atmosphere and the oceans are cooling rapidly. Along with this next climate change to one of extreme global cooling, the oceans will contract, and sea levels will begin to drop as they always do during extended cold climates.”

Re: Is climate change for real?

Simple and easy answer is, YES.

@$%^ didn't hit the fan yet as scientists promised. Yet back home our families who are in farming are some what effected by changing weather. Its as real as it gets.

Re: Is climate change for real?

I never said that climate change is not happening. I'am saying that the earth is actually cooling instead of warming and its cause of the suns natural cycle and not cause of humans. So we don't need to destroy our energy Industries, or pay special taxes to governments etc...

Re: Is climate change for real?

Actually you also said CO2 and NOx contribute to this cooling. Let us accept your claim at face value. Shouldn't we limit CO2 and NOx emissions to prevent further cooling?

Sun Responsible for Global Warming**

Newsmax
Tuesday, March 6, 2007

Two new reports cast doubt on the manmade global warming theory and instead point to another cause for the recent warming of Earth — changes in the sun.

One report from National Geographic News asserts, "Simultaneous warming on Earth and Mars suggests that our planet’s recent climate changes have a natural — and not a human-induced — cause, according to one scientist’s controversial theory.”

Data from NASA’s Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey mission in 2005 disclosed that the carbon dioxide "ice caps” near Mars’ south pole had been shrinking for three consecutive summers.

Habibullo Abdussamatov, head of the Pulkovo Astronomical Observatory in Russia, says the shrinking provides evidence that the current warming on Earth is being caused by changes in the sun, according to the National Geographic article.

"The long-term increase in solar irradiance is heating both Earth and Mars,” he said. "Manmade greenhouse warming has made a small contribution to the warming seen on Earth in recent years but it cannot compete with the increase in solar irradiance.”

The other report offers a mechanism behind the changes in the sun — variations in its magnetic field.

Compiled by scientists at the Danish National Space Center, it maintains that the Earth’s climate is strongly influenced by cosmic rays from exploded stars.

The cosmic rays help make ordinary clouds, and high levels of rays and cloudiness cool the planet, while lower levels of radiation lead to milder temperatures, according to the Danish report, which is cited by Marc Morano, communications director for the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works, on the committee’s Web site.

"Cosmic ray intensities — and therefore cloudiness — keep changing because the sun’s magnetic field varies in its ability to repel cosmic rays coming from the galaxy before they reach the Earth,” the Danish report by Henrik Svensmark, head of the Space Center, explains.

Whenever the sun’s magnetic field was weak, cosmic ray intensities were high and the climate cooled, most recently in the little ice age that climaxed 300 years ago.

Several scientists cited in the report believe that changes in the Earth’s climate are linked to "the journey of the sun and the Earth through the Milky Way Galaxy. They blame the icehouse episodes on encounters with bright spiral arms, where cosmic rays are most intense.”

Sun Responsible for Global Warming

Re: Is climate change for real?

The CO2 emmissions produced by humans cannot compete with the changes In the Sun's emmissions, plus other external factorels. Meaning that we deliberately destroying our energy industry and thus our economy will in the end of the day have little impact.

Re: Is climate change for real?

So is the earth in a cooling or a warming trend? At times you are saying the former. And a other times the latter. Could you state in your words if long term trends are pointing towards cooling or warming?

Of course in the real long term earth will cool as the sun dies.

Re: Is climate change for real?

Seriously??? He doesn’t even have a single research publication to his name. According to his own website:

Casey: He claims an M.A. in management from Webster University in St. Louis and a B.A. in physics and mathematics from “JSU” – whatever and wherever that is.

Re: Is climate change for real?

Ok. I understand your position.

Any data to support that?

Re: Is climate change for real?

OK than, tell me how you can rule out the Influence the Sun and other external factors in climate change, since the earth has been experiencing periods of global cooling (ex ice age) and global warming, long before humans began using fossil fuels.

Re: Is climate change for real?

Surveys of scientists’ views on climate change - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

On average ~95% of REAL scientists reject what @ukhan99 is claiming.

Re: Is climate change for real?

Sir, I am not going to argue about human impact on climate. Almost ALL peer reviewed research published in respectable journals (as opposed to self publishing fraudsters) have concluded that human activity causes climate change.

Whether it is feasible to do something about it or not, is debatable.

Re: Is climate change for real?

Is it your claim that the climate change models "RULE OUT THE INFLUENCE OF SUN AND OTHER EXTERNAL.FACTORS"

If this is your claim, can you provide any links to substantiate your claim?

Re: Is climate change for real?

All western mainstream media and pretty much every western politician also claim that 9/11 world trade center attack was planed by an Arab living in a cave, the FBI also even claimed that they found one of the terrorist's passport after the plane hit the building. Apparently a paper passport survived the crash but the black box of the plane didnt. The west has the capability to create massive hoaxes. Other hoaxes "Iraq has WMD" etc... Your statement that somehow you are correct because you are supported by the "mainstream" media/scientists/journals etc. doesn't mean anything. It would be better if you listen to the alternative media as well.

Re: Is climate change for real?

I am not talking about popular media. I am talking about serious research, published in serious, reputable journals. They are not likely to indulge in hoaxes or conspiracies.

I am not an expert in climatology, so I need to listen to ‘mainstream’ scientists who are accomplished and have published in respectable journals. If I have symptoms of a disease, I would rather go to a ‘mainstream’ doctor to get a check up, rather than a quack.

I can back-up my assertion through thousands and thousands of peer-reviewed published research in the area. What you have presented so far is quotations from self-proclaimed ‘experts’ who have no scientific research experience. You would keep insisting on those, and I cannot do anything about it. So, as I said, I am not going to argue about it.

Food for thought (not expecting debate on it either): Even if there is a remote possibility that it is all a hoax, isn’t it a nice idea to leave a cleaner, healthier world for our next generations?

Edit: Scientists generally love to contradict their “competitors’” work. It would be much much more unbelievable of scientific community’s ability to maintain a unified scam for decades than storks flying in new-born children.

Re: Is climate change for real?

If anything, the media, led by the Fauxification of news, is presenting "both sides" of this issue as if the 2 sides are equally valid.

Also, as the Economist above points out, one should not group scientists with popular media.

If the byproducts of fossil fuel combustion is not harmful, a simple experiment of running the car in a closed garage should prove otherwise. (Please don't try this).

Re: Is climate change for real?

Interestingly my old Science teacher was convinced global warming isn't what it seems to be. Personally I think the scientific community seems to be united that all of this is real.

Re: Is climate change for real?

The unfortunate thing is - the number of technical Conferences across the globe is increasing. With increase in travel to these conferences. Which makes little sense in the Internet age.

Folks do little work in the lab. And presnt / publish stuff before concrete results obtained. And they present same results in multiple conferences. Thus padding their resumes without adding value.

This includes.climate change advocates. Who preach conversation while burning fossil fuels traveling across the globe.
