I don't know about anyone prominent, however a freind of mine told me, that depending what your surname is, you can get an idea who or where one has descended from, for example if your surname is 'Ali' or 'Hussein' you are from persian descent, or 'khan' is highley likely you are mongol. I don't know how true this is, but take into account surnames have been handed down for generations, it does sound plausible.
