Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
Is feminism still alive?
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
a woman can be chivalrous to a guy too. it’s a major misconception that it only has to be from the guy.
if a guy holds a door for me i hold it back for somebody else(guy or gal). if a woman offers to do something nice for a guy in return for him being chivalrous before, that’s her being chivalrous back…see? ![]()
such a sweet, respectful, courteous, charming concept shouldnt die off.
@gidasa, dave chappelle is sooo funny…![]()
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
someone said this in youtube comments
Of course chivalry is dead, women wanted equality, so they get equality. Now that you cannot logically have chivalry in an equal society, many women complain that "chivalry is dead" and this suggests that women don't actually want equality.

when did feminism start getting such a bad reputation?
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
LMAO! Hazrat Chappelle rehmatullah is sheer awesomeness man.
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
....?
Chivalry connotes the characteristics of knighthood. The white knight rescuing the one in distress... It meant being courteous and being gallant, holding a door for someone....
just b/c a woman has the ability to be independent, hold down a job, does that mean that chivalry cannot exist anymore?
Sure it does. I made a custom order for a dawat supply of naans from a restaurant. One of the customers there offered to help me carry them back to the car.
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
It's pretty simple. If you act like a lady, you get treated like a lady.
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
when a person is on the rebound, emotionally messed up, they can be taken advantage of sooooooo easily. if another person can understand that state of being and still takes advantage of that person on the rebound, in that state, then i feel like chivalry is dead, buried, RIP, even it’s ghost is long gone.
i think the reason some relationships are going down the drain is b/c people have forgotten to be mutually chivalrous nowadays.
and you’re a guy:k: hurray for chivalry
:coolios:
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
I would like to think I am the very embodiement of Chivalry.
Make that Islamic Chivalry.. which I tell you is a damn site more difficuilt and skillfull than the Western notion. Any old stable boy will be brave to try and get his grubby hands on a lovely Damsell in Distress… but you know what try rescuing a Woman wearing a Niqaab theres no gatuntee that you’ve rescued a beauty for all the poor Faris, Sipahi, Spabodh, Ghilman, Janisasar, Solonak and Bahahdur he might have risked life and limb for some hag.
Add to the fact that a true sworn warrior of the above nature would never go beyond his position for fear of death if he acted unseemly… Knights had it a heck of a lot easier…
Western Knights are trained from an Early age and typically shock troops but any Oriental warrior had to train twice as hard and master a much more sophisticated panapoly. History backs this up too… Consider the arsenals and doctrine of Warriors and you will find that the Knight is relatively unsophisticated and often the first to breakdown the stiff attitude… compared to a Samurai, Rajput or Solonak a Knight would never stand a fighting chance… unless his opponent was impotent or something.
I still feel proud to be living and upholding what remains of the most noble of our past. I am not proud my Ancestors massacred more of this World than has ever been known, I am not proud that the arts and crafts I learned all have such a bloody and terrible past, I am not proud of the fact that sometimes in the most brutal of battles we were reduced to the same conditions that men at Stalingrad or the Somme would have thought tough…
But I am damned proud of the fact that the World still cries out for us despite all the bad, we have never lost our appeal and to be honest I have far more respect for a fellow Pugilist than I do for some grand old Popinjay who is supposedly skilled and civilised to eat with knife and fork… or these days privilidged to prefer a Big Mac over salted meat!
Chivalry is definately not dead. ![]()
It’s become a rare thing so it has but thats more reason to value it. ![]()
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
Not only that. At the same restaurant, I held the door open for a couple. Then we got to the next set of doors and the woman from the said couple thereafter held the door open for me. So it’s alive and well. At least when I’m around.
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
This guy offered me his seat on the bus - chivalry
he offered to carry my bags - chivalry
I said thank you with a smile and I thought that was enough. But it wasn't enough, the guy thought it was a license to say/do whatever...he got downright creepy cz he wouldn't stop asking me questions or talking to me and wouldn't leave me the hell alone. He followed me from 2 buses, and INTO MY BUILDING because I refused to let him carry my bags. Freak.
This has nothing to do with the post I just wanted to metnion it.
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive
So yeah about chivalry, if we're talking about opening doors, carrying someones bags, or just helping them out, then thats just good manners...its definitely not about gender. I've had women open the door for me, I've opened the door for men, etc.
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive

i agree, but can the same be said about a man. if a man acts like a gentleman, holds himself up with valor, is respectful and sweet---->chivalrous, he'll be treated in a similar way by a lady?
or even another guy. why does it have to be gender based.
in the olden times, did it have to mean the person expects something in return for being chivalrous?
Re: Is Chivalry Still Alive

Not always most guys who adhered to Chivalry lost thier battles in the end but they still won the Morla War and History remembers them not the victors.
Chivalry is a lot more than simply opening doors and so on...
Historically even on the battlefield men were expected to show respect to one another despite thier mutual hatred, take Richard the Lionheart and Saladin for example the classic Chevaliers of the Medieval age.
In modern terms businessmen and Women who still have some shred of humantiy abid by the rules of Chivalry sometimes... I knew a Bank manager who once simply took my word for what I wanted and whenever I needed help I could always trust his counsel becuase he never tried to cheat me out of my money. He could have made a fortune out of me but he chose not to.
The key component to Chivalry is honour, trust and friendship as well as what we call humanity.
In olden times few Chevaliers got much out of thier actions, but they were still loved long after thier passing from the mortal World.
Chivalry, Respect, Honour and Decency all sort of fall into the same bracket.
