Re: Is child marriage against islam?
lets define a child in islam? a girl at around age 12 and a boy at age around 14 is an adult. we see this happening in all the western world. teens getting pregnant by teens. so islamically they are adult if they can make babies.

Dear khalil, thank you for your explanation. I can agree with you that when most children are able to make babies physically but properly naturally ie without causing themselves and babies any damage in the process they are adults ie they have reached the marriageable age physically.
The next point is are they mentally ready for marriage at that age? After all it is a huge under taking and a heavy responsibility ie raising a good normal family.
Remember, in islam marriage is not a duty but a personal choice as to who wants to get married and when. People accept that forced marriage is against islam because the quran does not allow it. Does the quran allow child marriages ie marriages under marriageable age?
regards and all the best.
Re: Is child marriage against islam?
Being able to conceive a baby, and being an adult (Baaligh) are two different things... The word comes from 'balagha' and refers to rhetoric (notice that Balaaghah also stems from this root) implying 'baaligh' to be one who has enough life experience to RETAIN or HOLD proper rhetoric. I have yet to see a 12 year old girl or 14 year old boy who is capable of this.

thank you for ur kind words bro.
marriage is NOT required in islam but its a sunna and its highly recommended ebcause it saves you from engaging in acts that islam forbids.
our needs are ever changing. we are talking in terms of the western world but islam is for every1 and for any place and for anytime. there are billions of people who live by the day. they earn their daily wages and in are happier than we are in many ways. ther will not have the opportunity for betterment and they have to live whatever situation they are in.
yes, if u postpone ur marriage to get better education thenits perfectly alright. i am 30 and i'm still unmarried coz i was doing the same thing as million others do. **

Thank you dear hypnotix, agreed that baaligh means mentally mature person ie an independent mind person.
This means that under age marriages that are taking place around the world are against what the quran says.
004.006 * YUSUFALI: Make trial of orphans until they reach the age of marriage; if then ye find sound judgment in them, release their property to them; but consume it not wastefully, nor in haste against their growing up. If the guardian is well-off, Let him claim no remuneration, but if he is poor, let him have for himself what is just and reasonable. When ye release their property to them, take witnesses in their presence: But all-sufficient is Allah in taking account.
These verses clearly show that marriage is not for baby minded people who are incapable of living independent of their parents. This is the reason orphans need carers or guardians because they cannot look after themselves due to being immature.
These verses are teaching us how to test children for their knowledge to ensure that they have grown up into adults or not. So marriageable age can only be that which satisfies both requirements ie physical and mental and then rest is up to these people themselves to choose to marry or not or who to marry and when etc etc.
This is real islam in quranic context as regard law for marriage. Once you reach driving age you can drive if you want to but none is allowed to force you to become a driver.
regards and all the best.

Dear khalil, thank you for your reply. As I understand the quran in its own context, there is a relationship between individual and his family and the very same relationship extents to the level of tribe. There is also relationship between tribes on basis of inter marriages or on gound of what is common between them eg common beliefs or religions. However there is yet wider relationship between people on gounds of common beliefs, common land and humanity. This is how islam builds bridges between mankind.
The individual is the building block of humanity and if the individual is a right sort of person mentally and physically then family one brings up is also right sort of family and if families are right sort of families then the tribes are made of right sort of families. And so on so forth we have the right sort of world that is full of right sort of people. This is true sense that islam gives if we study the quran by itself with understanding of real world situations and circumstances.
This vision of islam has been covered up by corrupt religious and political leaders by their own narrow minded and shortsightedness based interpretations of islam.
For example, most muslim have wrong definition of islam, wrong definition of word sunnah and they have accepted the rule of abrogation as islam. Not only that people believe that forced marriages are islamic and child marriages are islamic. In fact they bring in so called hadith from seha sitta that prophet married his wife ayesha when she was six years old.
All this is clearly in direct conflict with the quran as one can clearly see. These people who believe this is islam obvious are not right and it is time that we educated these like people if we do not want to be looked down upon by other civilised and wise people who believe in social justice, fair play, human rights, peace, progress and prosperity of humanity.
Thank you again for your participation, regards and all the best.
