Is bullying in Pakistan the same as it is in the US/UK?

We all hear about the suicides of bullyed kids, Columbine, even Oprah did some shows on bullying. What I mean, is the extent of it the same in Pakistan as it is here in the US or in the UK? Which country has the most extreme and which has the least?

Re: Is bullying in Pakistan the same as it is in the US/UK?

Oprah did shows on pregnant man too :smack:

There is bullying in pakistan and much worse than here but Pakistani kids know how to take it and reply back. :stuck_out_tongue: it’s now that I see (in media) that this anti-bullying campaign has started, which has its disadvantages as well.

That man was a half transvestite or whatever. I have a feeling that kids might be able to handle themselves better there just cause they are in the streets with each other so much, but I don’t see how it can be so much worse? Any one have examples or anything? Are teachers as blind there as they usually are here?

Humaray zamaanay mein tau there was no bullying at all. My brother is 19 right now and he also did not face any bullying in school or college.

In Pakistan even some teachers are bullies in school.. they verbally abuse children by saying "yum nalaiq ho" and label children as "kund zehn" etc.. in my opinion, it's worse than being bullied by your peers!!

Extremely good topic.

I will post my very valuable in put after.

To a certain extent, bullying is glorified in our culture (our culture meaning south east asian cultures). Families turn a blind eye to it and put it down to being true to their cultural rights/roots.

I think in Pak, there is everybit as much bullying, it just takes a different flavor. Boys are more likely to be encouraged to respond physically. Girls maybe told to just deal with it. Subject matter differs too...I recently found out that my husband was unmercifully bullied because he was an "orphan" - dad killed in a car crash, mon left a quadriplegic so he was raised by his grandparents. Apparently, the other kids felt that this was good reason for ridicule and ostrasizing him.

Children the world over can be the nastiest little things.

41 states in the US have passed anti-bullying laws and the better school districts have sero-tolerance policies. For sure, if any one of my boys were being bullied, I'd press charges to the absolute fullest extent of the law.

Re: Is bullying in Pakistan the same as it is in the US/UK?

kids physically hurting each other and committing suicide from the sheer hell of peer bullying, I have only seen out here in the west, these are extreme cases no doubt but as of late its been on a steady rise. in our school district this yr, there were numerous complaints of bullying going on in school buses, kids were punished, parents called for a one on one and it went away for a bit and now its back up again. unless someone addresses the root cause of this (something very wrong going on at home of these kids), no amount of laws will put an end to it, seems to be an epidemic here not random isolated cases.

Patriot, are you talking about the US/UK or Pakistan.

*I just don't understand how parents can let their little ladlees and ladlas do this to other kids, but as soon as it happens to them , they start hitting the fans about everything. I mean really? Where is the logic in this? I really don't understand what has gone so wrong in human kind sometimes. Is it really that hard to discipline a kid? *

part of this blame should be directed at those anti-bullying campaigners. instead of teaching self-defense, they're just highlighting the bullying part of it.

@ ria 1328, I am talking about the US, and yes I believe it's root is in the basic discipline lacking both at home and in public schools here
