Re: is australia a racist country?
well i thought there were plenty of asians in some parts of australia…why dontcha move there? ![]()
Re: is australia a racist country?
erm, i think cos theres less asians there than anywhere else in the west, thats why we think they may be. however i have seen Home and away and not one asian face in that soap or neighbours....so maybe....
Re: is australia a racist country?
why are you getting into these things. I spent nearly 7 years in Aus and I didn't have any problems there. Ya, every society has different kind of peoples.
Don't you think we are not racist? Racism is every where.
So do what you want except listening others. Its a best country at the very moment. Good Luck.
Re: is australia a racist country?
Thanks Shafiq...what did you do out there? Whats the lifestyle like?
I have been born and raised in Australia and I havn't had any problems. I live in Sydney though which has a large muslim and ethnic population. I think if you go out towards the country you may experience problems but I wouldn't know.
*In terms of lifestyle, it's a good place to live. Clean, friendly, plenty of opportunities. *
Re: is australia a racist country?
Thanks princess.
Thats very encouraging.
Its good to here there is a strong ethnic population.
Im a bit worried as im british pakistani so i dont know if people will be racist!
Re: is australia a racist country?
Sydney is very different from other places in australia, where you may find urself to be the only asian in the town.
Re: is australia a racist country?
If i do go there i am planning to work in a big city like sydney or perth.
There are a lot of Pakistanis in Sydney. I have a cousin who works in Perth and while there are not many Pakistanis out there, there is a large muslim population and he has never experienced any problems.
Re: is australia a racist country?
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
yes it is, just like any other country. Specially ppl in regional areas. Australia never got much attention but in last 10 years heaps of asian and desis have moved to Australia. Australian economy is pretty small compared to US/UK/Canada and in current melt down ppl have started feeling the pressure and blame the new lot of stealing their jobs.
In Sydney there have been many race related incidents and now recently in Melbourne there have been attacks on indian students and a pakistani’s car got burned as his Noplate says “Raja” lol

Re: is australia a racist country?
There is absolutely no problem there alvena, i am in Melbourne and these recent incidents were blown out of proportion.
It's a very safe and friendly place, i have been living here for almost 10 years without any problem.
There won't be many problems in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane.
Adelaide is the place you should avoid for many reasons.
Perth isn't that bad but if you have a choice then go for Sydney.
