I don’t wear a lot of heavy Pakistani jewelry…and I honestly doubt I ever will. While I certainly can appreciate the beauty of some heavy kundan sets, the idea of spending a small fortune on jewelry that I’ll wear once and will then sit in a safety deposit box at the bank for the next thirty years doesn’t really appeal to me. My grandmother is giving some of her beautiful antique jewelry which I’ll be using for the valima, but I still need to buy something for the shaadi. So I was wondering if you think a heavy pendant set could work with a Bunto/Faiza Samee farshi gharara?
Maybe something like this:
But with a single pearl drop added to the bottom to make it a little longer, and strung onto a string of south sea pearls (and obviously coordinating earrings and teeka)? I figure even though its a relatively large pendant, I could still pull off wearing it to other weddings…and a good string of pearls…well, they just go with everything.
Oooh that would look really prettyyy. I think you'd get such a regal look, many brides nowadayys opt for smaller sets, youre right unless you know youre gonna be utilising it at parties and other weddings and get its moneys worth its pointless. Plus the way youve descriibed it makes it sound like such a unique piece, and would be great to pass down in the future as something totally wearable and would never go out of fashion. good luck :) and def post pics after everythings done..
I think less is definitely more. You won't look overpowered by any one item, and jewelry can actually put the focus back on you, your bridal dress and your hair/makeup. I think thats a great pendant set. It's a lot more practical than some of the stuff people are wearing (that I'm sure they aren't wearing more than on there wedding day, unless take take a security guard with them everywhere).
do what makes you feel most comfortable, pakistan's fashion is to just wear fake jewelery anyways nowadays with the economy get something vry nice and matching to your lengha. maybe keep a small pendent in the neck and get big earrings. i would recommend that
u know what i wud do if i were you
keep the pendandt but add 3 strings of polki to it... that way u get a choaker with a pendadnt hanging from it... n later u can take the pendant off, n put it on a chain n u can keep the strands of polki n it will be a small choaker u can wear easily with western clothes as well...
