Well Juliet, I would say that you should be absolutely fine in Pakistan, especially in Islamabad. There are normal people who live in Pakistan. The people who are prepetuating terrorism aren’t Pakistanis. They are not even muslims. A Muslim, no matter how orthodox his beliefs are would ever kill anyone innocent. That is the reason why there was a huge marijuana trade in the 70s passing through Afghanistan and ending up in Pakistan. A lot of goray (white people) visited it. There were still religious people in both Pakistan and afghanistan then but no one killed a Gora for being a Gora. Everything that is happening now is all political and CIA is behind it all. People don’t want to kill people, but they’re being enticed and brain washed in to doing so in the guise of religion. You won’t see these kind of people in the streets, they usually operate from remote shanty towns in Pakistan. Islamabad being a really Posh area, you’ll find highly educated upper class citizens. Enjoy your trip and don’t worry about a thing, you’ll be fine. I’m assuming you’re an American so even if you shoot someone there you’ll get a free pass as the Pakistani government has been sold out to the American lol. (Just kidding) Enjoy your stay. Post pictures when you come back. I haven’t been there in over 10 years.

You’ll be safe don’t worry.
Maybe dress like the locals? (shalwar kameez). Although more and more wear western clothing now. If western, just make sure they aren’t anything like shorts etc. It’s just like visiting any other country. Don’t let the media define Pakistans image for you.
Many other ‘goray’ I know have been Pakistan and they loved it. I’m sure you’ll have a good time. Enjoy your time there!

Of course not! The world is out there to enjoy. I would just suggest taking a few other people with you for safety as well as good company.

Maybe hit the beach, tan up a bit before you go? Also remember, free advice is worth what it costs. None of us advising you to go will pay the ransom, if you do get kidnapped.

Dye your hair dark or light brown. Get a tan. Wear shalwar kameez or maybe even Burqa. People will take you for a pathani and leave you alone.

You will be fine. Lots of women in Pakistan esp in urban areas do not cover their heads, neither is it required by law. You may find women dresses in western clothes in posh localities too. Though dressing is still modest by western standards. You can definitely go out for meals etc. with your hosts. Islamabad has lots of nice restaurants.

@Juliet1 Pakistan is not as bad as made out to be in western media where everyone wants to kill white people. There are plenty of westerners who still visit Pakistan. So, don’t worry & enjoy the trip.

My ex girlfriend from Denmark visited me while I was in Islamabad on two occasions.
It is well secure.
We were like proper love birds, didn’t care for the surroundings. And were fine.
Though people were looking at us.
But didn’t really care much.
God I miss her now. My first love.

This is Islamabad. Walk around in Jeans nobody will care. Most of my colleagues do so and I have even seen a few goris out in shorts.
