Er, well it kinda is a must during the initial stages cos surely if you were that 'unhairy' then you wouldn't be having IPL in the first place :p
As long as you leave the root intact and only remove any hair above the skin surface then it doesn't matter, unfortunately it pretty much rules out all methods apart from shaving.
