Re: Is 40% Glycolic Acid Peel Safe for Starting?
Wow…your skin is tough! ![]()
Frosting just means the acid penetrated deep into the skin. If the skin frosts, then in a few days it’ll turn brown/scabby. Then the skin needs to be left alone other than applying moisture. Within a few days, skin starts to peel. Pretty much that top layer peels off revealing new skin underneath.
Frosting is a “good thing” in the sense that the acid penetrated deeper. If you can afford the “downtime”, then it’s great. Over Christmas break I did my 12.5% TCA (my 1st time doing TCA) and it took literally 7 days for my face to peel completely. While I did go outside (grocery shopping…even went to the office 2 days)…it really is difficult to do do most daily stuff while heading b/c the face is scabby…and once the skin starts peeling, I looked like I had some weird skin disease! I only got away with it b/c I totally ignored all my friends and at the office, no one was there except 2 co-workers (ie. no clients)
The frosting/peeling definately gave me face a more dramatic improvement visually. Unfortunately I won’t be able to do it again until next Christmas b/c of the downtime. So I do lactic and glycolic since I can do those without any downtime.
If you want to see a more dramatic improvement…you might want to consider moving upto 15% TCA…or maybe even 18% if you can handle 4 layers of 12.5%.
