Ironing of clothes with work

How do you girls iron your desi kaprey? The one with kaam? It’s not feasible for me to give my clothes for dry cleaning after every wear so I hand wash and hang them and iron lightly with a cloth on top. Works fine for me but it can be quite a chore.

However, now im planning on getting Philips garment steamer. It seems so easy to iron and plus no scare of the clothes getting burnt!

Any tips and ideas? How do you wash and iron your desi expensive joray?

Re: Ironing of clothes with work

I wanna know this too .. So far all I have been doing is steaming them lightly at home and hanging them for hours so the creases will fall out .. I only iron the non kaam bits in a dress and the trousers .. but that isnt the best way I am sure .. someone please enlighten us ..

PS : I think its time we give up on non practical fashion and start following practical fashion that can go a long way with us :Hinna:

I use the steam iron. It's so easy and safe. Good for all sort of materials. I use it for everyday ironing. A life saver. Takes less time and very efficient

I read somewhere that you can take a spray bottle and fill it with hot water and spray on clothes that are hard to iron. They gave an example of sofa covers

Ever since then I've wondered if that's the same concept as a stream iron...?

Re: Ironing of clothes with work

^ how do you ladies wash your fancier desi clothes with kaam, etc? also, how does the steamer work for clothes that have kaam/stones?

Don't iron your kaam walay kapray directly. Spread a thicker cotton sheet (or thick dupatta) on top of your clothes and then iron from the top of dupatta

Other trick is to pull the shirt inside out and iron the inside (which is now outside) and after ironing, flip it back the right side in.
