Iron and kid's complexion

Ok, it might be the silliest question but…

I’m first time mama-to-be. Me and my hubby are both wheatish complexion. Someone told me that if we take too much iron, baby will be darker? Is this true. There’s this khala in hubby’s family who thinks that she has studied Psychology in college and whatever she says is right. She thinks she’s the smartest person in the whole worl. Please, please and please don’t take me wrong. I used to respect her a lot as my hubby considers and respects her as he does his biological but believe me, she’s one arrogant lady. Long story short, she’s his mom’s cousin and mamoo’s wife. So, mamani and khala. Hubby’s sister’s son is very dark though both of the parents are about my hubby’s complexion, maybe little bit sanwala but not how the kid is. He’s very cute kid though. I love him. Khala told sister-in-law that coz she had too much iron, that’s why her son is dark. First I started to laugh but then she told me that khala said to her.

I’m not worried about my baby’s complexion, we’re so thankful to God that he has blessed us with this anmol blessing as his brother is married for more than 6 years but no luck for them. They’ve tried everything even IVF.

Please guys don’t get me wrong.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

psychology? :\

if you eat roti made on a tawa, you are risking making a baby the color of the tawa. becAREful!

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Psychlogy doesn’t qualify her to be a geneticist or a developmental specialist.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Haha, I love you guys. My hubby thinks that she’s the most siyani person ever. She’s teacher btw. And that’s what has made her so arrogant. Idk how but… I’ll show this thread to hubby and tell him how stupid she is. All she cares is attention and bara naam and all that. and she hasn’t called me once after we found out about my pregnancy and all the time she claims that she’s my saas. But my own saas, she’s wonderful lady which I’m thankful to God. But this lady is pissing me off so much. She will always call hubby but never me. And always complain that I don’t answer the phone. Its on answering machine always. No!!!she never calls me and lies. Even if I’ve missed her calls, I would still see missed call, right?

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Poison her tea next time she visits.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

being a teacher has made her arrogant? Don’t blame her profession for her arrogance.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

I’m not blaming her profession. I said she thinks she teaches and as a teacher, she’s related to every profession. Whatever she says is true and pathar ki lakeer. Nobody dares to say no to her.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Haha, love you so much. She can’t visit us as we’re in US and she’s in Pakistan. We’re going in two weeks to pakistan for my brother’s wedding and we’ll see how she reacts when I won’t go to Peshawar to visit them. Its my first trimester and as most of other pregnant girls, I’m sick with nausea and that’s only reason I’m not planning to step outside of Islamabad/Ralwapindi but we’ll see. She wants to control everyone and now she’s telling everyone that how rude I am. I don’t care about her feelings. I never give them preference. I’m so moody and I told my hubby… Whatever!!! And hubby will tell me how she’s always so concern about me but in reality she’s not.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

There is no such thing. Please take the required amount of iron that your doctor prescribes. Iron has no co-relation with the complexion of the child. BTW I was told the same thing by some elders.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Okay I can’t figure out what this thread is about? Your husbands khala and you going on and on about her and the issues you have with her? or the Iron question you mentioned only ONCE in the entire thread?

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Dear this thread was for Iron, Period!!! Khala was the one who brought it up and I’m telling the background of khala only.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

…and Hadeel is thinking, whether to keep the thread here or move it to Life & Relationship :hehe:
OP, please clear the status.. :hehe:

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

:smack:

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Khala gee will be coming up with lotsssss of other weird stuff once the baby is here.In one ear,out the other…!!

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Please don’t show this thread to your husband where you’ve been insulting his khala right and left :nono:

Ever hear the saying “you catch more flies with honey”?

And as far as the “iron issue” goes…how hard is it to take it in one ear and out the other? You don’t even live on the same continent as this women…

Learn to pick your battles. We all have relatives with old school/dakhyanoosi/know it all opinions when it comes to pregnancy and chd rearing…all you have to do is take it with a grain of salt and go about your business

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

Very astute observation.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

No, this is what you said. You said

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

It’s a poor pregnant lady who needs to vent about the evil khala/mumani. Yeah, I couldn’t figure out what the question was either as she didn’t seem to pay much attention to the silly old wives tale. Come on folks, can’t we give this poor girl some sympathy?

OP,
Like someone else pointed out, this thread is not something that you want to show to your husband. He obviously loves and respects this woman who has been a part of his life from the very beginning. It is never a good idea to ask a spouse to choose you over someone from their family (even side with you on some opinion), even if that person is the most ridiculous person. Never say anything wrong about any member of his family regardless of how true it is.

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

And I can’t figure out how you assumed that I wasn’t showing her sympathy?

I asked her to clear the same thing you said. Two things in the thread, major is her venting and the very minor detail is the silly old wives tale. Just like you couldn’t figure it out. =)

Re: Iron and kid’s complexion

The thread was about iron but this khala is pissing me off so badly that i really needed to vent out. But thanks guys for the responses. I wish you guys could meet this khala and see why I’m saying this. And Lusi, no offence to teaching profession.
