The guy took 9 wickets in Gaddhaffi Stadium in an ODI against Bangladesh in Under 19 cup.
Good to see some geniune pacers emerging from the otherwise vegetarian land.

It seems he is the only bowler to take 9 wickets in a limited overs game!
It is really good for him that he took so many wickets, but you really have to keep something like this in perspective. First of all he was playing against the Bangladesh under 19 team(I am surprised somebody does'nt have that many wickets against their senior team), and he has already played against senior teams many times so the competition was likley a step down for him.
He will have a tough time making the Indian senior lineup since India already has a bunch of talented young medium fast/seam bowlers including Nehra(just back from injury), Balaji, Salvi and Manuf Patel.
^ yup. It's really tough to break into the fearsome Indian pace squad.

He will be the next Srinath!
Irfan Pathan! Love the name!
Yeah, cool name.
Is he really a Pathan?
Anyways, even Junaid Zia did well in the emerging trophy, so not a big achievement their.

yeah i think india has the best fast bowling lineup in the world! n Agarkar is the best!!
hey the subject line says the name as Irfan Phattan where as it is Pathan...
Now that we all agree to agree, show some respect for our fearsome bowlers! ![]()
Interesting…Irfan’s father is a muezzin who sells perfume. Irfan has developed a good perfume delivery thusly…
And India wins the under-19's final with ease! Another good performance by Irfan - 3 wkts and a run out.
>>Irfan Phattan: The next furious bowler from India
Want to know who was the previous one....
Munaf Patel :)
Ajit Agarkar ![]()
Zaheer Khan ![]()

don't look at the too much hype given by the media - i doubt the kid has played a single domestic game in India - as much as he plays in the tournaments in India and abroad - he will improve to the standard of strike bowler - but as of now i don't reckon he is gonna be a jackpot for BCCI.
btw - how old is he?
He participated in U-19 tournament in Pakistan recently.
