When bowlers don’t practice in nets, it’s not the fault of coach. Coach can only guide you, be it batting or bowling. Rest is up to the bowlers/batsmen to perform.
I’d like to see Vickki back in side to guide Shoaib, Sami, Shabbir than to have a coach.
Pathan is a great find for India. You can see the passion for cricket in this lad. If coaching was everything then Saleem Jaffer would have been a legend too.
Great point BoSS. This lad has tremendous ability and he wants to bowl even on flat pitches, something our lads could look to learn from.
As for Miandad saying that Wasim and Waqar should come and help our bowlers the only reason they don't is probably because Miandad had a very bad relationship with senior players in the side when they were playing.
Irfan's dream comes true; meets idol Imran over dinner
MULTAN: ''Am I doing alright,'' asked a curious, awestruck Irfan Pathan to his hero, sitting across him at the dinner table. Imran Khan's reply was immediate and positive: ''Yes, you are. Don't worry about anything, be your natural self.''
Pathan wasn't fully convinced, though: ''Are you sure everything's alright with my wrist position and landing?'' ``Yes, it is, don't try changing anything when the going's good,'' Imran replied.
Irfan, as reported in this website's newspaper, had sought _ through an intermediary _ some time with Imran. whom he'd idolised since childhood. The 15-minute meeting took place at dinner on Wednesday, a dream come true for the Baroda boy.
Later, Irfan told this reporter that Imran didn't touch on any technical aspect but spoke generally. He asked me to do a lot of sprints and gym training _crunches zyaada karna hai'' _ as he felt it would help my bowling.''
``It's always good to spend some time with someone who has achieved a lot. And he has done that a number of times over a long period. I am just nobody in front of him.''
Probably the nicest thing Irfan heard during the meeting, though, was Imran saying the left-armer reminded him of the young Wasim Akram _ because Akram is Irfan's biggest hero. ``He is a left-armer so I always look upto him. I haven't, though, spoken to him so far on this tour.''
