Ireland’s Cricket World Cup adventure continues today when they face England in the Super 8 stage of the competition. The Irish squad has reported a clean bill of health for the match in Guyana.Captain Trent Johnston is set to return, while the English welcome back key all-rounder Freddie Flintoff.
Ireland’s Kyle McCallan, meanwhile, has angrily rejected suggestions that Ireland’s success at the World Cup is down to imported players.
Three members of the Irish team are Australian, including Johnston, while Andrew Botha is South African.
McCallan, however, says many of the key players are Irish and even the foreign contingent have been living and playing cricket in Ireland for years.
“These guys are not mercenaries who have flown in to play in the World Cup,” he says.
Ireland seems to be hungry enough to kick english butt today. Lets see. Again, if England will be restricted to 200 or less, Ireland will have a good chance today.
Suddenly I seem to have lost all interest in cricket.
Pakistan and India out of the world cup, only Australia seems to be the nation who plays cricket, the rest of the teams are here to provide them with some batting / bowling practice, no thrill, no drama… no keeping fingers crossed, no waiting with thumping hearts for the next encounter…
The only drama being the Murder of a coach…
What is the world comming to
