Iraqi torture chamber found

Iraqis will be free of this man and his ways soon.

A torture chamber used by Saddam Hussein’s henchmen has been discovered by British troops in Iraq, according to reports.

Cells in a police station contained a meat hook attached to a ceiling and a live cable said to be used to give electric shocks.

Royal Marines found it in a suburb of Basra, reported the Daily Mirror’s Tom Newton Dunn, who is with the troops.

Dozens of Iraqi national ID cards were spread across the Chief of Police’s abandoned large oak desk, he wrote.

Troops captured the Abu Al Khasib suburb after 13 hours of fighting.

The police station was empty when the marines arrived.

One local said: "The Ba’ath Party were bad people, they used to hurt people inside the police station. You say bad words about Saddam, they take you in there and you never come out.

“Everybody also knew not to ask what happen to them there, then they disappear too.”

Newton Dunn wrote “everything we saw inside that building yesterday suggested that it was wasn’t really a house of law and order at all, but used instead to torture possibly hundreds of local civilians”.

The police sation was also said to be used by the Mukhabarat - by far the most infamous of Saddam Hussein’s internal security services.

so what, I wonder if some country invaded US, How many torture chambers will we find? Every one knows Saddam is evil and he tortured people, maybe you want to do a little research on how many torture chambers exist in Saudia (US Ally), Israel etc.

So what you say? You write this off as if it's no big deal?

Your unlikely to find any tortue chambers in the U.S. there against the law, besides that the ACLU wouldn't put up with them.

I see, I forgot US never does anything that is against the law. Let me remind you of Tuskegee experiment as an example of US treated its own citizens. I am sure what they did was against the law. They managed to cover it up for a long time. Plus I am sure you speak with authority, because, you know the inner workings of all intelligence agencies run by US.

You conveniently omitted the remark about Saudi and Israel.....

I was in awe of your "so what" comment actually.

utd, keep dodging the issues I raised. Dont act surprised because no one in the world is about the torture chambers in Iraq. We all knew he had them before US went in, hence the comment so what. Now lets discuss Tuskegee, Israel and Saudi torture chambers.......

Wouldn't that be more appropriate in a separate thread? I don't know about Saudi, but whatever happened at Tuskegee and exists in Israel cannot compare to the systemized campaign of torture Hussein has used in his decades long rule. Enough of the rationalizations already!

if you can’t find WMD’s then divert attention towards torture chambers. good tactics :k:

strange utd.. that we need to see it on Prime Time to believe..

Saddam is a brutal dictator.. everyone except the American public knew that from way back when Rummy was cozy with him and he was receiving American aid to fight the 'evil' Iranians.

Nope, Margaret Thatcher wanted Saddam Hussein to be out but senior Bush didn't want it.

Should Saddam be tortured in same place "IF" he is captured alive?

I’m expecting CNN to eventually report that American POW’s were tortured in these chambers
