Iraqi museum was hardly touched by looters

Guess those reports were wrong

Antiquities feared stolen found in museum

Monday, May 05, 2003

BAGHDAD – The vast majority of the Iraqi trove of antiquities feared stolen or broken have been found inside the National Museum in Baghdad, according to U.S. investigators who compiled an inventory over the weekend of the ransacked galleries.

A total of 38 pieces, not tens of thousands, are now believed to be missing. Among them is a single display of Babylonian cuneiform tablets that accounts for nine missing items.

The single most valuable missing piece is the Vase of Warka, a white limestone bowl dating from 3000 B.C.

The inventory, compiled by a military and civilian team headed by Marine Col. Matthew Bogdanos, refutes reports that Iraq’s renowned treasures had been lost.

How very nice they showed up right where they were suppose to be. Soon WMD will also show up exactly where they were predicted. :hehe:

Are you suggesting that the US planted tens of thousands of ancient Iraqi artifacts in the museum to avoid looking bad?

No I am suggesting US gifted USS Pueblo to NK and is intentionally not revealing Saddams WMD so the poor chap may not look so bad.

what about Artifacts that were captured/seized by Syrian border control?
whether true or not, I don't care as much.

the only thing that bothers me is how media plays and makes a fuss over anything.

They caught some thieves at US airports sneaking stolen looted stuff...

Most of the artifacts will supposedly re-appear (elsewhere), by the time the debate cools off and any coalition MIAs are labeled β€˜old bones.’ Hope, the very well-organized people who possess them now are capable of good care.

Surely, a boost for the museum tourism in the UK before the decade is over. If only some barbed wire was left over from the oil ministry to protect the museum. Alas.

and rape victims were hardly raped by looters and leaders are hardly assassinated in different areas and hospitals were hardly looted by looters. hardly anything happened in iraq :-)

Rummy was right then, that media is showing same man carrying the same vase over and over, there weren't many vases in Iraq.

The artifacts were most probably auctioned and purchased back on e-bay!

Why don;t you check that up on www.ebay.com. It is not that hard to verify. Unless there is another ebay.com that only Americans know of and is well hidden from others.

Hmmm so fox news folks did not steal as much as previously believed? ;)

I'm sure that for every antiquity taken by a Fox News crewmember, Geraldo tried to sneak in his own substitute keepsakes for museum display. Geraldo's watch. Geraldo's hat. Geraldo's gun. A lock of Geraldo's hair. A picture of Geraldo.
