Try reading a little closer. I don’t blame the religion of Islam for anything. I blame the Muslims who read the holy books as justifying their violence and murder and I also blame the Muslims who put their heads in the sand acting as if the former group of Muslims don’t exist and don’t use Islam to justify their work.

I am not implying anything of the kind. I am expressly stating that too many of you “peace loving Muslims” ** do accept ** the violent Islam which exists out there. You do nothing to root it out of your midst and simply deny that it exists. You SHOULD NOT accept the violent Islam that is out there. You MUST dismiss it proactively and overtly. Wrong again. My point is that the Quran contains material that extremist Muslims interpret “in ways that absolutely justify violence and hatred and, in fact, view perpetrating it as their Islamic duty.” I have never claimed that or formulated my own independent opinion that the Quran contains “violent material.” My own interpretation would be irrelevant to the discussion anyway. The Quran (and any other holy book) means what the people who interpret it say it means for those who choose to believe the particular interpreter. An interpreter who has no followers to listen to and believe him can be dismissed as a quack. Unfortunately, the violent strain of Islam is not populated by a few isolated quacks. The numbers are vociferous, large and apparently growing.
