Washington, DC, Jan. 4 (UPI) --** The Bush administration is expected to seek as much as $100 billion** for the war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, USA Today reported Tuesday.
If the request comes, it would be the third, and would push the war’s costs over $200 billion, which is significantly above initial White House estimates of $60 billion. So far, the Iraq war has cost about $130 billion, according to the White House’s Office of Management and Budget.
Jim Dyer, chief of staff of the House Appropriations Committee, traditionally the first stop in Congress for any official request for money, said he expects a funding proposal from the Bush administration by Easter that “could be around $100 billion,” the vast majority of it for Iraq.
In the Senate, Bill Hoagland, the top budget aide to Majority Leader Bill Frist of Tennessee, agreed: “Based on current spending profiles, it would not surprise me if … (a bill) approaching $100 billion is requested early this year.” That would be equal to almost one-quarter of the Pentagon’s $417.5 billion 2005 budget.

Yes, the Iraq experiment by the neo-cons has been a miserable failure for all involved, especially the innocents caught in between. That does not mean that the original intent did not involve oil.

who says its not for oil US government is not going to spend 200 billion plus send hundreds of thousands of amerikkkan troops thousands of miles across oceans and land to give iraqis liberation this is total baqwas. The blue print that the neo cons planned for the middle east has in iraq totally flopped. The plan includes occupation, looting iraq of its resources and to build military and forwarding bases has many angles it is not just about oil it has many fronts just you need to see through the spin and hype to find the true nature of this occupation.
