**The US military has confirmed that it is investigating an allegation that an American soldier raped a female detainee in Iraq. **
Claims of sexual misconduct by US military personnel surfaced last year during the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, but this is the first known case of a soldier being accused of raping a detainee.
A Pentagon spokesman says a number of allegations have been made and investigated.
He says one of them is still under investigation, while another has been closed for lack of evidence.
The spokesman says he did not know when or where the rapes are alleged to have occurred.

Making excuses for rape is the lowest argument one can make.
These american brutes in Iraq should be hunted down and killed immediatly nobody even trusts the american authorities they can't even run a prison without abusing and raping the people in it how on earth can they be trusted to run a country like Iraq!
The problem is that any bad incident from democratic systems gives you people some kind of breaths, to let you think that you are not alone in irregularities.
Americans recognize the problem, investigate the incident and in most cases bring the culprit to books.

We all know that in Pakistan, the rapists go free and top it all of the woman is either killed by the relatives or committs suicide. AK, is absolutely correct. America has occupied Iraq, and if any woman of Ieaq blames any american of rape, he should be hanged without trial. No investigation, nothing is required, just hang the accused.
They go around raping the Japs in Japan, where they were stationed, & now they are at it again, this time Iraq. Rape has always been a part of war, the women were always subjected to this torture, this is just one of the ill effects of a war gone bad.

Rape, in particular, is not a crime specifically engendered by American society. In fact, the incidents of rape committed by US troops abroad seems significantly less than the number of rapes committed upon the indigenous population by troops from a whole host of other countries.
