MUSLIMS IN BRITAIN RESPOND TO BLAIR’S DOSSIER
London, UK, September 24 – In a cheap PR stunt, the long awaited ‘dossier of evidence’ on the threat of Iraq was released earlier today and Parliament was recalled to discuss its contents. It would seem that Blair’s intelligence has certainly come a long way since August 2002, when he admitted: “We haven’t the faintest idea what has been going on in the last four years”.
Former CIA director James Woolsey, quoted in The Washington Post (September 15th 2002), outlined the real motives for war on Iraq when he said, “France and Russia have oil companies and interests in Iraq. They should be told that if they are of assistance in moving Iraq towards decent government, we’ll do the best we can to ensure that the new government and American companies will work with them. If they throw their lot with Saddam, it will be difficult to the point of impossible to persuade the new Iraq government to work with them”.
It is not without reason that the US defence establishment and the oil industry are rubbing their hands in glee at another Gulf War and the windfall profits that will inevitably follow. This is not a ‘war on terror’ but rather a war for America’s corporate interests.
The overwhelming majority of Muslims in Britain are opposed to military action against Iraq and the ‘war on terror’, which they see as merely a means to establish and further US and British hegemony over the Muslim world.
Dr Imran Waheed, a UK based doctor and a representative of Hizb ut-Tahrir Britain, said, “This dossier is a cheap PR stunt to salvage public opinion for a war on Iraq. Are the people of Britain and Europe going to send their sons and daughters to have their blood spilt in some far off land in order to fatten the profits of US oil companies?”
“Although Muslims want to see the back of Saddam Hussein they do not want an Iraqi Hamid Karzai. Islam obliges Muslims everywhere, including those in Britain, to stand shoulder to shoulder with the Muslims of Iraq in any upcoming conflict. Western colonialist states must stop their interference in the political affairs of the Muslims”.
