Iraq has become "George Bush's Vietnam''

WASHINGTON (April 5) - Iraq has become "George Bush’s Vietnam,‘’ Sen. Edward M. Kennedy said Monday, calling the president deceitful and for the first time comparing him to former President Nixon, who resigned in disgrace

"As a result, this president has now created the largest credibility gap since Richard Nixon,‘’ Kennedy said in a speech at the Brookings Institution, a think tank. "He has broken the basic bond of trust with the American people.‘’

** Bush "is the problem, not the solution. Iraq is George Bush’s Vietnam, and this country needs a new president,‘’ Kennedy said.**

:k: Man, I can so see Bush not winning this election. He is going to lose royally. Though I never voted but I swear this time I dont care, even if I have to get in lines or whatever, I am voting against him.

IRAQ: BUSH’S ‘VIETNAM’

http://www.sky.com/skynews/article/0,,30200-13050208,00.html

President Bush is increasingly facing accusations that Iraq is turning into his Vietnam.

It wasn’t supposed to be like this.

** US Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld predicted that triumphant coalition troops would be welcomed with flowers by a grateful Iraqi population once they ousted the brutal regime of Saddam Hussein. **

First, it was Ba'ath loyalists and nationalists who continued to take the fight in guerrilla attacks.

Then it was foreign terrorists acting in support of Islamic fundamentalist groups like al-Qaeda.

Now it is Shi'ite militiamen supporting a young ambitious cleric Moqtada al-Sadr who is seeking to grab power from older Shia clerics before the June 30 handover.

Excuse after excuse.

You bet this is Bush's Vietnam!

Hang in there when push comes to shove they will call all Iraqi population “terrorist” :hehe:

Yes, most probably.

In the Sunni strongholds like Fallujah and Ramadi, and Shia towns like Karbala, Najaf, Basra, Nasiriyah, Kut as well as Baghdad, and even in the Kurdish populated towns of Kirkuk and Mosul, US/Coalition soldiers have been slaughtered in their dozens in the last few days. This has turned into an all-Iraqi uprising against the occupation forces, and has become the Vietnam that so many predicted.

Better put, replace "Bush" with the US Administraion.

This is not Vietnam by any stretch of imagination. Other then the fact that fighting is much less, this time America was directly attacked by islamists. This never happened during Vietnam. Now, America will do everything to pacify Iraq. There is much less inhibition to not use all possible force. America has to win this war, otherwise the jihadis will declare victory and then we will all suffer when the jihadis are emboldened all over the world. Some of you muslims think the jihadis will spare you, but they don't consider most of you real muslims like them anyway. They will kill you just as they will kill the "kafirs".

Uptil now, america has been treating iraq with kids gloves to try to appease the locals and in return getting some of its soldiers killed. Once, these gloves come off, it will be a one sided bloodbath.

No, they declared end to major combat operations, i.e. no B52 strikes on terrorists.

Let see how long can they put up with all that.

Wrong as usual.

They declared mission accomplished i.e. victory in Iraq, which you seem to be saying they have not achieved yet.

Just sit tight and keep an eye on spin masters.... America is not big enough to take on the join wrath of shias and sunnis.... Wait until sistani comes out, he already said he will ask the ba$tards to leave, then he will send his supporters on the streets as a warning shot then he will send the scums where they belong... This ain't getting better for low life terrorist.

That Bush haven't realized that the war has just started.

*** "The battle of Iraq is one victory in a war on terror that began on September 11, 2001...***

George W. Bush in his "Mission Accomplished" speech - 1 May 2003.

No less than 567 US/Coalition soldiers have been killed since that date - some "victory" huh?

If that was end of major combat then what is this, honey moon… :rotfl:

haha
