.....what exactly Iran can do? ....

Most likely scenario is that UNSC will put economic sanctions against Iran for around 20 years or until the Aya Tullahs are kicked out.

Chances of war are really remote with probability of less than 5%. In that unlikely situation Pakistan should be ready for a few things:

  1. Influx of Iranian refugees.
  2. Illegal traffic of arms and other material from Pakistan through Balochistan or Afghanistan to Iran

Pak-Army should also be geared to take control of Iranian Balochistan and its oil fields. Under construction Pak-army basis in Balochistan will be great at that time. The northern Iran will most likely become an Iraqi protectorate.

Again the chance of war is very low. Still Pakistan should be ready for any eventuality.

I agree with those who say the chance of war is very low. However, the chance of an Israeli air strike against nuke facilities in Iran is high, IMO. I don't see that leading to a war. Just more unrest.

As to the UN, I don't think they have the stomach for imposition of Iraqi style crippling sanctions on another country. Then again, if Chomsky and Pilger emerge as the advocates of such sanctions on Iran as an alternative to war, who knows.

Wrong. Israel took out Iraq's reactors, not Iran's. Iran's nuclear sites are much, much further from Israel than Osirak was.

The Iranian reactors under construction were initially taken out by Iraqi bombers in the early 1980s. The USA had been building them for the Shah, and the Soviets were helping Iran finish them off. The USA fed the location of the partially built reactors to Don Rumsfeld's good ol' buddy Saddam Husseing and the Iraqis took them out.

And in 1967, Israel attack the arab world. The arabs were just wargaming near the Israeli border when Israel decided that the risk of an arab attack was not worth putting up with and attacked its neighbours, taking them by surprise.

I see. I apreciate the correction. In any case, if they do decide to go to war, it'll be Israel + USA against Iran.

I'm surprised no one mentioned Russia in the mix? they have a military alliance with Iran .. no wonder Israel is cozying up to Putin these days..

Any war against Israel, USA is by default "Israel (+USA)".

Correction! Any war against Israel, USA, Afghanistan, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Germany, Japan, or UK is by default war against USA.

Allies do stick together.

Add Australia,Canada and New Zealand as well; there is an alliance between UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand to share information from recon satellites (Bramson "Body of Secrets").

As far as Israel taking out Iranian reactors they will (airstrikes), and as far as Iran retaliating they will too (Hezbollah). How it plays out; stay tuned.

No! let me bet, israel and iran would never indulge in any sort of war.

Both of them have a common enemy Wahabies and their companions.

Very obvious and clear and confirmed to both of them after zarqawies announcement against shias the other day, saying they are all shatan key aoulad.

They(israel and iran perhaps) would fight with principles on table , not even like hisbullah's principles' way of fight. Bye sokoon

I think its an unworthy discussion.I do not think in the near future there will be a war between any two countries in the world. The world equation is fast changing and any small spark in the middle east can cause a big fire.Any pre- emptyive strike or even an endeavour for such a thing will cause in great disaster ,even far reaching and any such attempts will be blocked by the western world.Thogh we may take that there is a great American involvement in voices agaist Iran, the U.S very well knows that it can not afford one more diplomatic or strategic failiure in the region.
