TEHRAN, April 23 (MNA) – Iran will export Samand cars to China as of June 22, said ISACO Managing Director Nasser Beikzadeh-Marzbani here on Monday.
Until the production line of the car is installed in China, Iran Khodro Co. (IKCO) will export 1,000 completely built-up (CBU) Samands, he said on the sidelines of the 12th International Automobile & Manufacturing Technology Exhibition at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center.
He said that Samand plant in China will be operational next April, adding that the annual nominal capacity of the factory will be 30 thousand cars.
Gulf countries have more expat population than their own local Arabs...and majority of Expats particularly from subcontinent prefer a good car with low price.
There are already a few Indian companies like Mahindra and Tata, which have launched their selected brands, and their primary target customers are millions of expats NOT Arabs.
That's why I thought, why can't Iran explore neighboring market first rather than jumping in China, which already has myriads of cheap car manufacturing factories??
Iran's been producing Paykan cars since Shah's time. It was a basic car that resembled some communist block cars. Unfortunately, except for the name, much of the parts were imported from here and there. The real question with Samand is: How much Iranian is it? I get the feeling that many parts come from South Korea.

The only thing that matters in terms of business is whether they are making revenue on it or not. Reliability will be tested with time.
They could be cheaper, but quality? You know how well known China is for its quality in the world market
I am sure they can compete with the world in terms of quality. If you have heard of Lenovo, Haier, TCL and now CHERY.
Because people like you demand to buy a tv for 10 bucks and then when it breaks down you blame it on cheap chinese good. I would call that cheap customers wherever you are from. Looking for cheap stuffs and when it breaks down blame it on china again.
In China there are better quality ones and more expensive. So next time when you buy don't buy cheap goods. go for ones which are branded and try to expand your knowlege a little if not much.
