I agree. But think about it this way. If Shah were still there then Iran would have been a Western allied country with nukes and a formidable army.
In that case Iran would have made it a much much larger issue by now.
After all, a lot of their citizens have been killed in Pakistan by the same terrorists. Even one of their diplomat was killed in Multan. And Pakistan government did nothing.

If shah was around, then perhaps the whole conservative shadow over the middle east might not have been successful. Kuwait, qatar etc were very liberal compared to now and part of that is the competition that they got in over religiosity after iran took a hard turn to the right.
Sure, the saudis would be richer after the seventies, not like that they weren't before, but a richer iranian economic partner would make it harder for saudis to pump money into pakistan.
PS they burn pakistani flags in tehran after attacking our embassies so perhaps Pakistan should take it to the UN as well? Same for afghanistan.

Agreed, with a liberal Iran on their side US would not have had the need for Pakistan which could have bode well for us. Oh well.

Maybe not, but considering that America was reeling from vietnam, the CIA would have wanted to have two countries to play games against the USSR for what soviets did to america in vietnam even though it would be more on america's own terms.

The problem in Pakistan is, Shia support Iran when it comes between Iran and Pakistan, just as we have seen in this post, and wahabi support Saudies when it comes between Pakistan and Saudi. none on the two support Pakistan, and that is why we are witnessing killing of shias and sunnis from last 20 odd years. And yet guys here declared iran a saint…
Pakistan’s taliban and Shia Sunni problem have roots both in Iran and Saudi.. both want govt of their liking in Pakistan… none have Pakistani interest in their minds, and the real problem is, the supporters of these two countries are either naive or don’t know what, they take the statements of these countries as hadees or even above that (again this thread is example).
The reality is, both Iran and Saudi treat Pakistanies are garbage. no matter if they are shia or sunni… but Pakistani consider it as Tabruk…

These Balochis don't even dare to speak Balochi Language in Iran... and their province of Balochistan has been merged wits Seestan long ago... The elder Mengal rightly said, we are free under Pakistani govt but we won't be allowed to survive if we cut off from Pakistan... the sooner Baloch get this the better their life style will get.. but money pouring in from Gulf, India and Iran won't allow them to understand this simple notion...

probably this is the reason Shah was removed and replaced by Mullas.. Stable Middle East was not and still not in interest of US

There was genuine disgruntle in the general public that the communists were marching hand in hand with islamists against the Shah, but the mullahs ended up taking the whole leadership and executing the communists and anything in between and around them. Khomeni lived in France so it could be that the west overplayed their hand with a more assertive Shah, but still the Shah was a very valuable ally to the west with buying weapons from them to plans for investing in the nascent F-18 project back then.

But if Saudi or any other country threat Pakistan then I’ll never ever ll support that country :nono: I don’t call myself a true Muslim but at least being a Pakistani we must support Pakistan first then other country.
