If shah was around, then perhaps the whole conservative shadow over the middle east might not have been successful. Kuwait, qatar etc were very liberal compared to now and part of that is the competition that they got in over religiosity after iran took a hard turn to the right.

Sure, the saudis would be richer after the seventies, not like that they weren’t before, but a richer iranian economic partner would make it harder for saudis to pump money into pakistan.

PS they burn pakistani flags in tehran after attacking our embassies so perhaps Pakistan should take it to the UN as well? Same for afghanistan.

I also believe that a secular country is better than a religious one. Because a religious leader makes everything the matter of religion. It binds the hands of decision-makers and in the end, the country can’t pursue the policy best for the population.
I think Iranians are realizing slowly that they need to get rid of hard liners from the government.
