Of course you must have heard the latest news from Iran that women vote overturned that sexist misogynous exploitative male chauvenistic immoral law for the benefit of MEN .
AS too one in 60 million citizen practicing prostitutionis acceptable as margin of error of enforcement .But you never know you might end up regretting it one way or other for chances of hat happening is geater than you making in shift in opinuion of iranian law makers.
Johnny dont talk of exceptions & freak of nature which happen onece ina blue moon .talk of median mean & mode …the periphery are like dropped crumbs of bread no body can live on that & no one will starve for lack of it
I believe its quite a decent move by the Iranians, so its kinda against islamic principals but the guys/girls in Iran are gonna have physical needs just like anywhere else and this way they can follow up on them and technically not break the codes of Islam as they are awarded some comic marrige certificate.
Pakistan should follow suite, then the whole Muslim world-ultimtaley the Islamic world will become better socially only if its ancient ideas of seperation of the sexes ends and guys/girls are allowed to mix freely and happily.
Too strict on the youth throughout the Islamic world.
I observed during internship 5 17 yrs old in juvenile jail grow up to be twenty somthing without any real hetro or homo sex …(i mean there were no girkl or boy in contact with them .
In the end there was no damage to his Pni*S it neither dried & fell off
So like need of clothes, food & water ,need of sex isnt going to kill you if it is not available because you r not ready b/c it comes with responsibility …STD ,HIv OPregnancy ,Moral standards,…acting on monkey childish impulse etc
I think its similar to Indian censor board saying they should have dedicated theatres for adult movie (there was a thread on that a while ago).
Point being, governments are finding themselves, more and more, unable to regulate morality. And are now looking at escape routes.
Without taking sides on this issue, the fact of the matter is that when Zia tried to clamp down on shahi mohalla (and its prostitution) in Lahore, he never succeeded in eradicating prostitution, but resulted in most of the prostitutes spreading to all areas of Lahore, even in previously decent and shareef neighborhoods. Now, we can argue ad infinitum, why prostitution is bad, the simple truth is that this issue can never be resolved by sheer adminisrtative force. It is not called the oldest profession for nothing. Idealists amongst us, mostly pre-teen kids, can differ as much as they want.
You dont have to have sex . But I dont see why the state should interfere in what I want to do with my body.
I went on a site and I think it said that 400 women had been stoned to death for adultery in Iran if that's true its crazy.
and would that apply to a non Muslim
if I was a turk Id be thankful to attaturk for giving me a secular state.
I agree-the state should have as little involvement as possible in a persons life. They should just providse a set of laws acting as a very loose guide by which to conduct yourself amongst other members of the populace. And provide a basic state benefit/healthcare system. Kinda a mild degree of socialism if you will.
Islamic nations really do need to liberalize there societies, to the extend that one day issues like these are non issues and dont merit discussion. Ppl should be able to do who or what they want with their bodies-and no set of laws should have authority over someone's choices aslong as they are not directly infringing someone elses rights.

] Plan has run into trouble with women’s groups

A controversial plan to set up what are being denounced as licensed brothels in Iran has been rejected by official bodies.
It’s a euphemism for the official establishment of houses of corruption
Iranian Women’s Social and Cultural Council
The growing problem of prostitution in the country has been the subject of mounting concern, but this attempt to find an Islamic solution was not well received in some quarters. The detailed plan for the establishment of what are being coyly referred to as “decency houses” was drawn up by the Interior Ministry’s deputy for social affairs. But according to senior police officials, the plan was rejected by the Ministry’s own Social Council, having run into opposition from religious quarters and women’s groups. Medical services The aim of the scheme was to arrange and regulate encounters between men and women who want to have sex but who, for one reason or another, are not ready for full marriage. ] Nearly two million Iranian women do not have homes
The idea was that people would sign up at a registration centre, then be referred to a health clinic for medical checks and a free contraceptive service. An advisory centre would then pair them off, while another would issue a temporary marriage licence under which the man would pay an agreed sum. The couple would then be directed to specific hotels or guest houses where they could consummate their arrangement without police harassment. In fact, the police, the judiciary, and religious officials would be involved in the board of trustees running the scheme. ‘Licensed prostitution’ The plan was discussed by senior officials and details were published in the press.
Some people believe that talking about such issues is taboo, but they are part of the reality of society, and turning a blind eye will not solve the problem
Iranian Deputy for Social Affairs Ashraf Borujerdi
But women’s groups and others reacted angrily, denouncing the scheme as little more than licensed prostitution. “It’s a euphemism for the official establishment of houses of corruption, the normalisation of illegitimate relations, and the destruction of the family,” said the Women’s Social and Cultural Council. “If this plan had been approved, it would have been a stigma of shame on the forehead of the Islamic system,” said Seyyed Reza Hosseini, acting Social Deputy of the Law Enforcement Forces, who had opposed the proposal. But he appeared not to rule out submission of a revised scheme. “In addressing or regulating the issue of street women all Islamic, legal and social aspects should be taken into account, and we would have to carry out expert studies,” he said. Growing problem The plan was defended by Ashraf Borujerdi, Deputy for Social Affairs at the Interior Ministry, who helped draw it up. ] Poverty has led to increased social unrest in Iran
“Some people believe that talking about such issues is taboo, but they are part of the reality of society, and turning a blind eye will not solve the problem,” she said. Given the furore it has raised, it seems unlikely that the plan will become reality, even if it is amended. But its motivation was to address the serious problem of street prostitution, which is becoming increasingly common with the worsening economic and social conditions to which some of Iran’s population are vulnerable. Welfare officials say there are at least 300,000 prostitutes working in the country. Drug abuse and crime are on the increase, and the number of girls running away from home is rising steadily. Officials say nearly two million women are without homes, and one million lack any kind of social benefits. ‘Social protest’ So the reasons for the rise in prostitution are clear - and they are not going to be easily eliminated. Under Iran’s Islamic system, it is possible to take out a temporary marriage licence - known as Sigheh - even for a few hours. The device is used to cover casual transactions which in many societies would be regarded simply as prostitution. The authorities have tried to clamp down on prostitution, but with little success. In many cities, street women ply their trade undeterred. Not all those entering the profession appear to do so out of desperation. For some young women, chicly clad and carrying mobile phones, it appears to be a form of social protest. Welfare officials are concerned that younger and younger girls are being drawn into the practice. In April, a man convicted of murdering 16 prostitutes in the holy city of Mashhad was hanged. And this month, it was announced that two members of the Iranian national football squad were given lashes after being caught in a brothel.
Tell me whats better, guys/girls going to such places and having safe, controlled sexual encounters and leaving disease free or the continued proliferation of prostitution in Islamic lands and thus a surge in HIV and AIDS cases?

I just dont understand who is stopping you from having sex.Just marry the legal way to have sex .
even if you claim you r not religious & aethist ..still it is like paying for the sex.Marrying is the legal price .Anything like prostitution is short changing the woman. Its like child molesters trick vchildren with cheap candies.THeY TAKE AWAY FROMM THEM MUCH MORE VALUABLE AT DIRT CHEAP .
I still think its better for ppl to be able to sleep carefully with those they want to , then have to go to hookers for there needs. If the Islamic societies were not so restricted this would be far smaller a issue.
Also many ppl are not mentally ready for marrige, but still physically needy for some so why should they get married before getting what they want?

Mo
You cannot make up your rules as you go .eligion is not matter of OPINION & more so not of a unsubstantiated by precedence ,evidence or logic.....
who are you to determine that Arsenic is better poison than Mercury ...hence it is better & o.k. to take Arsenic .When both are poison & illegal.
No one has addressed the real issue......Why are there over 300,000 prostitutes in iran?
Because women have very few civil liberties.
Honour Killings are happening every day there.
If a girl does not honour her families wishes (re:marraige, etc). they will threaten to kill her...and recieve lighter sentences...pleading Honour Killing asa defence for themselves!!! (These are the bothers and fathers I am talking about).
Therfore, a girl has two options...stay home and get killed; or run away...and become a prostitue.
Rape victimns are killed dor the sake of the families honour.
It is a ****ed up society and I for one don't supprt it any way.
Anything that pisses off the ignorant mullas/imaams of those nations is a blessing in my eyes.
I am too tired to write coherently right now....but I have read and watched many documentaries on this subject recently.
It still angers me to beyond belief.
