I doubt latter it can be extended to India, After India did a U turn the plans changed - The pipe dia. was reduced to meet Pak requirements only.

India can request an extension of the pipeline to their doorsteps at price set by Iran, Pakistan and any other stakeholders (Financiers). The extension should be conditional, and homeland delivery of top priority before forwarding the surplus.

This one of the best projects in PPP governments. ZAB gave steel mill and nuclear technology. After so many decades again PPP did it. No other governments whether political or dictatorships had guts to give such projects in past since partition. However Pakistan should not rely on this keeping in view the attitude of SA. Pakistan should continue to explore its own energy resources and never be dependent of any other country.

True, but I hope India joins because it will help to tie their interests together. Any nationalists, on either side, who hate the other country will see resistance from politicians, workers, and businesses who will work on the pipeline.

China provides 500 million dollars as well. 67% of the financing complete and accounted for. So much for all the doom and gloom people. Seriously.

One of the conditions of the deal when US offered the civilian nuclear technology to India was to scrap the IPI gas pipeline project.

The way Zardari has signed the agreement 2 weeks before the expiry of the term of the present regime, it shows that he wants to use it as a political stunt, but sadly it wont work as he did nothing during the past 5 years. If the next government goes ahead with the project, the sanctions will come after 3-4 years which the PPP can use to stage a comeback after five years. And the musical chairs will continue...

Najam Sethi shed some light on Apasa Ki Baat - Russia / Gazprom also offered to finance and complete the piple line but was turned down by Shri Jardari for God knows why!!!

A negative speculation. Why do you think this would happen, unless you feel that your beloved leaders are fooling Pakistanis about anti-American stance, whether it is drone or jehadis supports. Basically it shows how your leaders kiss the behind of Sam and afraid to do practically anything in favor of own country to antagonize him. This is height of hypocrisy.

You are suffering from paki-syndrome I have already defined. Does it matter whether none had balls to decide since 90's, it has been decided now by Zaradri near elections? What if PPP comes back to power? You never know what will happen in future? Performance of other parties is not that superb that they can not be beaten again.

'Near elections' is the key word.

If PPP comes back to power:

  1. lanat hey voters pey
  2. PPP won't care about what it said or promised before elections, as always
  3. PPP would have a thousand excuses to not go ahead with the project (no funds, establishment ka rona)
  4. if the project goes ahead, it would be another mega source of haram khori for the super haram khors of PPP
