Even shia’ism I believe (not followed 100% or maybe indopak shias are more radical?) that was adopted by Persians I think comes in part to distinguish themselves from Sunni Arabs who defeated them in the eighth century!

It is more complicated than that the Ummayyad rulers treated even the converted iranian muslims as trash (same for all non-arabs)
The ShianeAli on the other hand included Prophet(PBUH) great comapnions like Salman(R.A) a persian and Muhammad bin abubakr(R.A) who was married to a iranian princess naturally the iranians were treated much better by this faction,following the commandment of Prophet(PBUH) that arab is not superior to non-arab.
True Shia converion came much later by the safavids
