Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

I wonder if it was intentional. I hope not. However it boggles my mind that Iranians would not check that the food expired 20 YEARS ago. With friends like Iran, who needs enemies?

Quake survivors given food expired 20 yrs ago

BALAKOT: The Iranian Red Crescent Society (IRCS) has distributed tin food that expired twenty years ago among the earthquake survivors of Balakot, the use of which is causing skin allergies and stomach murmurs to those who consume it.
**
The tins, containing tuna fish and baked beans, were produced in the year 1983 and were to be used within two years. **The manufacturing date on top and bottoms of the tins clearly states their date of manufacture and expiry. Some heath officials from Frontier gave the expired stuff to patients at the leprosy hospital and their children.
**
The expired food caused itching and skin rashes in children and stomach problems for adults. Prepared by the Varamin’s Agro Industries of Iran, the tins were donated by the IRCS. **

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

well they had to dispose off the expired cans somehow

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

awww...do you not read the expiry date ..?
we collect food at our charity organization, and i make sure that when we stack 'em away they haven't expired, cause sometimes people will bring in whatever doesn't get eaten at home...

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

Don't worry, Iran will pay once US asks Pakistan for bases to be used to attack Iran.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

shakes head that's not gonna accomplish much...tsk tsk .. :p

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

Agreed! one should read the expiry date when consuming canned food.

However the expired food was sent by a Government agency of Iran. That Iranians were fully aware the destination of the food shipment is where people have just come out of a major disaster and they may not be paying too much attention to the expiry date. For me it looks like an extreme example of carelessness at best. Or worse yet, some Iranian baboo or a Mullah wanted to dump this poisonous food on helpless victims of the earthquake.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

I'm sure it was an oversight.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

Or Iran govt was sure that Pakistan can consume anything.
Anyhow, if it were not Iran or some other non-Islamic State had sent expired food to riot victims, we could read more burning comments.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

This was just an honest mistake, and others countries like the UK have made similar bluders. But unlike AuntyOBL no one else has tried to make some cheap political point out it.

Earlier, a quarter-million doses of flu vaccine bought by US from UK, were found to have expired in 2004. The 256,000 doses were purchased in 2004 from British wholesaler Ecosse Hospital Products Ltd amid a predicted US vaccine shortage. But the US Food and Drug Administration barred the vaccine’s import to Illinois, saying it could not guarantee its safety. **

Don’t worry about Aunt-bulbul she is foaming at mouth from day one.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

Allah ke Lanat hu Iran per.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

^^ At the very least, this incidence shows the total incompetence of the Iranian authorities. How come it was possible to keep 20 years old cans in their warehouses? It is a criminal action to ship the poisonous food across borders in the name of "mercy", and "helping the quake victims in Pakistan". I'd also blame Pakistani agencies for not checking (and then double checking) anything that comes from Iran and Bharat.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

AuntyOBL has a point. The cans were 20 years old and stored in some warehouse all this time. If nothing else, it just shows the incompetancy of the iranian agency.

Re: Iran gives poisonous food to Pakistani victims of Oct. Quake

You are so cavalier about this because it is not someone from your family is dead by eating bad food. If you have a child that dies eating this food, you would be posting such a stupid post.
