IMHO Israel will attack next year sometime, especially if the Republlicans return to power, even if they do not. Israel probably does not have the might to go it alone and the Americans will be forced to defend its ally. I don’t think the West will be interested in occupying Iran,** but carpet bombing it to a state where Iran will pose no threat to Israel** or its Sunni Arab neighbours thus maintaining American superiority in the region.

You are forgetting one thing, we are not talking about Afghanistan or Iraq who had no air-defense at all.
