Iqbal’s poetry is heavily influenced from the concepts of Quran and Hadees. There have been lot of research on this matter and many writers tried to link his ashar with verses of Quran or Ahadees.

Indeed, we offered the Trust to the heavens and the earth and the mountains, and they declined to bear it and feared it; but man [undertook to] bear it. Indeed, he was unjust and ignorant. (33:72)

And when Allah intends for a people ill, there is no repelling it. And there is not for them besides Him any patron. (11)surah Ar Ra'd

Zaban se kah bhi diya la ilaha illah to kya hasil
Dil-o-nigah Musalman naheen to kuchh bhi naheen
And of the people are some who say, "We believe in Allah and the Last Day," but they are not believers. (8) surah al baqarah
