Ipoos and bullying

ipoo= iTouch/iPhone

As I am babysitting 3 over 10 but under 15 year olds this week I have experinced a lot of iPoo bullying.

All these silly communication apps where their friends can send messages that say ‘you wet the bed’, ‘One Direction are going to marry me and not you cos you are so ugly’ and ‘You are not a real Muslim’.

I hate and I mean HATE ipoos for children. It’s just wrong.

Yes, I dont think the kids should have access to these kinds of things, and if and when my time ever comes my kids can make all the voodoo dolls of me that they want, they are not ever going to get an ipoo or an eggsbox, or pisp.

It also annoys me that the parents allow their children to have these apps, if you really really really really really feel that an iPoo is going to better your childs life then why not at least check what they do on it!

I honesly thought they were just playing Angry Birds or Temple Run cos that’s what I would do

Re: Ipoos and bullying

please try to speak properly
its very hard to read :(

As for not giving them phones well have fun with that. The world is getting more and more dangerous and if they want to bully your child or your child wants to bully others and those or her doesn't have the tech to do it then they'll find other ways. :P

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Oh dear, your poors eyes.

Dont ****ing read it pet, no one asked you to.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

i agree! actually kids should not be allowed to have iphones and touchpads....hinders development, ban the stuff...

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Some adults shouldn't have 'em either.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

my my and wouldn't that be considered bullying?

Regardless of technology bullying exists and will continue existing. Its just a new method and there is no way to prevent it.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Irony 101. Well done.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

It's ok pet, I have Andriod :)

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Uh...what's your problem?

I just love my iphone. Can't be without it. :(

Re: Ipoos and bullying

A lot of things

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Kids will be kids. If nothing else they have tongue to bully each other. Whats next? cut their tongue? :)

best thing is that their heart are pure....

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Love the justifications.

Of course people will use their tongues and their hands and feet to bully. That's not my point at all. It's about technology making it worse. I didnt say burn the iPoos (Although I would love to burn that rotten apple), I just think parents should be more aware of the dangers that technology brings. Of course it's great but when you spend 6 hours of every day with 30 5 and 6 year olds who cant comprehend anything unless a wii or an (i)poo is involved it kind of gets taxing after a while.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Oh no, I wasn't talking about anyone in particular on gupshup.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Then your issue is not about bullying but lack of good parenting.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Its easy for parents (and other) to blame technology than to put in some effort to make sure technology is used correctly and serves the purpose

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Sounds like kids are not being taught how to communicate and respect each other ... sure, technology makes it easier to be 'bad', but that comes down to individual parenting and what they are being taught. Just like my relatives who trash their in-laws on Twitter, that comes down to how they were raised. Can't blame Twitter for it.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

^ I hardly doubt that most parents would make their utmost effort in raising their children in what they think is the best way. I agree with Milly that kids need to be mature before they are handed over these smartphones and gadgets. Kids are extremely quick witted bw the ages of 10 and early teens and usually it doesn't take long for their minds to work the evil way.
For a lot of kids and their parents, bullying at some level in school is inevitable but it indeed becomes a big problem if mean children start harrassing and bullying their vulnerable class mates on the phones with such text messages. Why make it more difficult for them?

Kids wont be kids if they knew how to handle everything the 'good' way with no chance of them going astray

Re: Ipoos and bullying

^ I agree to age restrictions for gadgets but ages she mentioned (b/w 10-15), are OK ages to have iPod.

Re: Ipoos and bullying

Now see, if I were to say it was bad parenting I would get the whole 'You havnt pushed anyone out what do you know what it's like being a parent!!!!??!' rant.

But blaming the technology gives me the same replies.

How interesting.

I see what technology is doing to little minds and it worries me slightly.

p.s I still hate anything 'i' related and always will. Sorry Jobsy, RIP.
