There are 2 types of Ipods: one was designed for Windows computers and one was designed for Apple s MAC computers :)
But the difference is not visible so make sure that if you buy one, it s the right one. ( not many peeple have mac computer :D )
Most second hand or old stock ipod's will be the 3rd generation ones, being phased out for the 4th gen which are slightly smaller better battery life but dont include extra accessories the 3rd gen came like docking station + case so a price drop in retail stores. You can pick one for about £215-20 for a 20gb
