What is with this iPod madness. I mean, between the Xbox, and iPod, people have gone nuts.
Today, I was asking the sales person about battery issues with these mp3 players, and this one customer was surprised to hear that the battery can only be replaced by Apple for iPod’s and that it costs like another 100 dollars to do it, and that typically the battery your iPod will come with will last for like 3-4 years…
Customer was like WTF am I going to do with this crap in 4 years, then?
I nodded too.
The sales person just shrugged.
So…like in 3-4 years is everyone with an iPod going to have an i-opener?
4 years is a LONG time. My iPod Mini's battery was roasted in 9 months. Now thats painful. Haven't gotten around to take it to iPod store for troubleshooting or replacement.
lol... it's not worth fretting over the battery life or even remotely thinking of getting extended warranty, unless the battery goes bad in less than a year's time. The current iPod and other such portable media players will be obsolete in about a year's time or so.
Faisal bhai, get yourself iPod video or iPod nano. dafa karain puranay iPod ko. :p
Well if the machine becomes obsolete and a better one is available which is more durable, compact, user-friendly, and loaded with features, then why not?
PPGB (Price Per Giga Byte) is interesting, even within the iPod family.
A 6GB iPod Nano is $249 ($41/GB) and a 20GB iPod Video is $299 ($15/GB). A 185% decrease. This is the coolness premium for Nano, I suppose.
PCG: 3-4 years is a long time for a music player. If it lasts that long, i.e. Plus battery replacement price given to you seem inflated anyway. Some Googling suggests, iPod's battery can be bought for as little as 20 bucks from eBay. No first hand experience, though.
Wrong on both counts. There is no 6GB iPOD Nano, only 2gb($199) and 4gb($249).
And there is no 20gb iPod Video, only 30gb($299) and 60gb($399). That is all, just wanted to correct you.
^ You are right. Kinda screws the comparison even more. Nano gives you $62/GB, and iPod Video give you $10/GB, with a net delta of $50 in absolute dollars. Seems like "Nano Coolness Premium" is actually 525%. Go figure.
If you Google, you can get step by step photos of the entire process. Doesn’t look too too painful or complicated (a little soldiering primer will come in handy, btw). However, not only you will void the warranty, if any, but there is really no guarantee of any sort. So, enjoy at your own risk.
^ Same here. I have music all around me (car, home). I don't have a need for them, maybe they're good for ppl who r always on the go, who walk a lot or something. But i'm not gona waste money on one just bcos everyone else has one hehe.
Well , no. I figured it can be a good study tool. Apparently, a lot of the IVY league schools have been testing the mp3 players as learning tools. Professors can podcast lectures and you as a student download them, and then you can listen to them while driving, etc.
