I’ve been using iTunes to download music for my iPod. Ive had my iPod for ages now but never really used it cuz it frustrates me!!
when uploading music to my iPod from iTunes I noticed that it deletes the music I had on the iPod previously. I know others have had this same problem as well…so it’s not just me 
Can someone please tell me how I can prevent that from happening again?
also… is there anything else I can use that is better then iTunes?

yeah, iTunes is kinda funky sometimes :p
i choose the option for manually uploading my songs instead of having iTunes sync them. that way i can choose what songs i want to upload, and i find it a lot easier than when iTunes does it for me.

I do the same as well…but when i upload them it deletes the already existing songs on my iPod

^ i just got a new iPod, so i'm not too familiar with it yet, but i'll check it out when i get home tonight. upload some tunes, and i'll see if it deletes the ones i already have, and i shall let you know!

I dont know much about IPod, but its obviously syncing with some option that is left on which gives ITune selection a priority over IPod stored selection.

Have u tried dragging the music an dropping it into the ipod icon?

will take a look at it tonight and play around some more with it. I will give that a try. I just hope it doesnt delete my existing songs AGAIN!!

alrighty AE. i tried it out, and colourful eyes got it right.
so do this. open up a window that has the music files that you want to transfer to your iPod.
once your iTunes is open, click the option that allows you to manually manage music and videos.
then drag the files you want on your iPod, and drop them on top of your iPod icon. so in your iTunes, you'll see 'AE's iPod'. drop the files into that. and voila! check your iPod, and the new files will be there, and it wouldn't have deleted any of the previous music that you had.

yes and no, i got rid of my ipod device, but when I had it I was forced to use work arounds when putting my own music onto my new computer. there are a few softwares out there tha can assist you in copying your IPOD files onto your computer, but they will not be in MP3 format.
