Wow. 20 runs per over for his century. 16 runs per over for 175. Out of this world.

One spectator had a plycard
**
When Gayle bats fielders become spectators and spectators become fielders.** :d6c:

Very aptly said about the biggest hitter of our times.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Correction One of the fastest recorded century in domestic cricket that too in T20

Afridi scored it in 37 balls in 50 50 overs match way back 17 years ago :afridi:

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

But still Gayle is one of the most destructive batsman of our ERA just awesome

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Its still cricket even if its domestic and this my friend is the fastest century in any form of cricket in history. I watched it life at work on a big screen :D It wasnt just our gali ke bowlers, there where Marsh, Finch, Wright, Murtaza in Pune Warriors Team. And i really enjoy this format of the game :)

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Fastest is Don in 22 balls i think.

Gayle is the biggest hitter of our times, afridi's record was good for his time but now many has done that.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

If you think Finch and Wright n Dinda are world class bowlers then what can i say and Im not taking anything from Gayle he is my fav player and will always will be .....But .Scoring in domestic and International are two different things :)

In domestic matches only......Done what lol no one has even came close to break his record of 37 ball century in International Cricket!

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

^^ IPL is not really your average domestic cricket. But again, in today's crop afridi is no where close to gayle. Its a matter of time before Gayle or someone else breaks that record as well.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Yes its a possibility if he bats against India against their pathetic trundlers it can happen

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

What a phenomenal player Gayle is. Simply breath-taking. Domestic cricket or not. Its a feat that will not be broken.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Trundlers like Afridi? yes it is possible, provided that pakistan makes a 100 with its pathetic batting.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

An unbelievable feat but to say that it overshadows Viv’s 56-ball test century (the real deal) or Gilchrist’s 57-ball test hundred or Afridi’s 37-ball ODI hundred is overstating it. Domestic performances can/should never get the same recognition.

For all his IPL exploits, Chris Gayle has a modest international record in both tests and ODIs. A batsman of his calibre should be averaging 50+ in tests and in the mid-40s in ODIs … in an era where every Tom, Dick & Harry averages 50+ in test cricket. Chanderpaul, a far less gifted batsman than Gayle averages almost 52 in tests.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Almost Brijesh Patelesque

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

I agree there is a difference, not only its not an international game (though all the players are intl players and IPL is not an average domestic league) but Gayle doesnt have half the class that Sir Viv or Gilly had. Gayle doesnt have pressure when he bats so basically he can do what he wants without worrying about his career.

But you can also not refute that Chris Gayle is the biggest hitter of our times. He is brutal and charismatic and lets his performance talk for him, in India he is right behind Dhoni in terms of popularity.

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Yes Gayle is destructive but mentally weak. You won't back him to consistently deliver in knock-out or pressure games, like he failed in the IPL Final v SLA

He is an entertainer for sure

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

Yea, we get it, only pakistan produces world class bowlers, and the rest is just garbage, anyways, domestic or international, T20 is all about entertainment and i really love Gayle and IPL for that.

P.S: We support the same team in IPL (KKR), if you didnt switched your team this season :D

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

So trundler like Afridi has 350 ODI wickets which none of you bowler has ever achieved in ODI EVER …And come we all know all of India is jealous of Afridi  Because he was right India has small hearts :hehe:

Re: IPL 6: Chris Gayle scores fastest century in cricket history

I have been supporting KKR since first season and always will :D
