IPL 2011

Re: IPL 2011

I am delighted to know that you are not going to be watching the IPL. Means no Arli comments on IPL games. Cheers.

Re: IPL 2011

this.

let me add to this that I did not follow it (or ICL) even when Pakistani players were playing.

Re: IPL 2011

Even in the Eng-Ire game, I was rooting for Ire :D

Does not matter if India plays or not, you still need to root for a team to feel involved.

Re: IPL 2011

:D

Re: IPL 2011

Well I am sure if you watch the games you will find teams to root for based on the players!!!

Re: IPL 2011

Only once I was googling for some players innings and I found an IPL innings…I think it was Imran Nazir…and I hated watching it…

never watched 1 live game…even though it was being broadcast free on TVU.
:nook:

Re: IPL 2011

i am actually a big fan of IPL...i think standard of matches is usually pretty high.....unfortunately, dont follow it too closely except some key matches but i love the concept...IPL will do wonders for young indian cricketers in coming years...

Re: IPL 2011

Re: IPL 2011

Same here. I do not/am not able to follow matches too closely except for Cricinfo and highlights on Willow TV, but I definitely feel that it would benefit the participating cricketers bothe monetarily and also provide useful practice playing alongside cricketers who might be on opposing teams otherwise.

Don't know how many here know that Dhoni's decision to come up the order in the WC final was partly due to the fact that he had played alongside Murali as part of the Chennai Super Kings squad and was a lot more comfortable playing him that someone like Yuvi or Raina might have been. And the rest is history, as they say...:)

Re: IPL 2011

yeah he said that in the interview....i am sure as chennai's keeper, dhoni knew exactly murlai's hand position and hence it was easier for him to read his doosra as well as traditional off spin...

Re: IPL 2011

Yes, these are the hidden benefits of playing IPL :D

Re: IPL 2011

^ good points.. it always gives young players a lot of exposure of playing

1) big games
2) infront of huge crowds
3) again some (not all ofcourse) ACTUAL ex and current national players

Players like Kohli and Raina have so much confidence now playing international games.

Re: IPL 2011

The next few years are going to be crucial for Indian cricket as players like Sachin, Zaheer, Bhajji, Sehwag either retire or take a background role. I personally feel that IPL is better at producing cricketers who can play ODIs and T20s at the international level much better than domestic tournaments like Ranji trophy & Duleep trophy can.

Re: IPL 2011

Neither have I so far. But this year I may see what it is all about.

Re: IPL 2011

In the old days, Delhi was really Delhi, Madras was really Madras, and Bombay was Bombay. You could tell just from the player names who played for whom. Sivaramakrishnan - no doubt from Madras, Shivalkar no doubt from Bombay etc. Now it is too muddy - no idea who plays for whom.
