Analysts are predicting sales between 600k - 700k units on the first day. Anyone here on GS getting one?
Its only able to use some of the iPhone apps and even those are not all behaving well from what I hear. I might be getting my hands on one for a few days this week. Will keep you updated how I fare out.
I still can’t see the practical use of this device - at least not just yet before some custom iPad apps make it worthwhile to look into it. I can only pinpoint what an iPad is not… as opposed to what it actually is. So I’ll prolly wait a year or even more before thinking about buying it.
I’m not buying it. I gave up on iPhone even. It just doesn’t have enuff buttons for me. Like someone posted a picture. its a little girls’ bicycle with training wheels
^ aah my bad - I read your original post as you were going to buy one later in a few days.
Re: iPhone, it has tons of utility for me - more so than my previous Windows Mobile device I was using - for me it’s the apps that make the difference. Haven’t checked out the Android platform or apps yet, but don’t see myself giving up the iPhone for the next year or so.
I see that device getting used by families who travel frequently.
I used to take my daughter’s PSP with me. They were able to play games, watch movies and in hotel or at starbucks (if I can get a free wi fi signal) I was able to logon to web to check local namaz times, weather, direction and what not.
If Ipad can do all that and more, its will be a good gadget to carry while traveling.
^ good use case TLK - but I also think the types of games for the iPad are going to be fairly limited in their functionality as compared to a PSP… I mean it doesn’t even support flash! - but like I said before, if someone wants the device as an e-Reader + mobile Internet access, it might be okay.
I think that if one really gets the desire to use anything then they will find a way to work it. I had a Samsung UMPC and I was doing this sales gig on the side where I would show a video presentation and fill out a couple of forms and show presentations from it. Once people saw it (other sales guys) they went and bought that UMPC, exact model.
The iPad is an Apple product, so those brand-loyal people are just going to get it. It looks cool so a few more people would get it. And once they have they won’t want to say they’re not using it so they’ll come up with ways to somehow use it.
But overall its not something novel, even though the UI is new for a tablet and iTunes has a good apps base. Anyhow, i’ll post my experience when I get my hands on the puppy.
As TLK bhai said it is a good gadget for frequent travellers, however in my eyes its just an enlarged Ipod touch, same capability but widout FLASH, i personally am not a big fan of iphone and i still have the old IPOD CLASSIC and that i luv but besided that i am not a big APPLE product fan :D. I am never going to buy just because of my preference but i am sure it is better than carrying a laptop around :k:
I’d buy Atom processor notebook instead of IPad for travelling purposes any day. These are small, light, stylish, more practical minus Apple logo . you can get thsse atom notebooks for less than 350 bucks these days
