IPAD, new or used.

So we so much are buying an IPAD. My condition is that its has to be min 32GB and 3G. Niks says that it has to be brand new from apple store. I am looking at some prices from craigslist and finding some half decent deals.

What do you guys say?

I know I know, IPAD2 is coming sometimes this year but I may buy one of those later. Right now, need an opinion about IPAD new or used?

Re: IPAD, new or used.

It should be a new one unless you cant afford which is not true I know. I was about to say wait for Ipad2 but you already have plans so go for this one and share yr experience.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

SID, I was reading and it looks like that the major diff between 1 and 2 would be camera. Minor diff would be slightly faster processor and thinner display that would make it lighter. We are not video chat people and I dont think that I would be using an IPAD to take pictues anyways. We have 3 trips coming up next month and instead of lugging a laptop, we want to travel with IPAD.

These are my reasons of going ahead with IPAD 1. Also apple products have great resale value so if needed, I can sell it after few months to buy IPAD2

Re: IPAD, new or used.

One other aspect is the IPAD1 bugs which will be covered in release 2. Every 1.0 product has its share of bugs, glitches, problems and defets. Now, any experienced user of IPAD can tell you whether there had been any bugs in 1 or no, and if yes then were there too many?
Take a look at this:

Well, despite the bugs, the guy still luv ipad, so why complaint!

Re: IPAD, new or used.

^ good article. make me want to buy it even more

Re: IPAD, new or used.

I wouldn’t want a used pad.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

why? asking just out of curiosity.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

It was meant to be a joke. Pad, not iPad.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

might wanna hold your horses, an ipad 3 is also due in the fall.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

“Brand new” is a very over rated term. As long as its a dry item you’re good.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

How about we call it a virgin IPAD?

Re: IPAD, new or used.

I think if you’ve waited this long, wait until the next generation one is out. And get it new :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: IPAD, new or used.

Sahar, we have 3 (well niks has 3, i am only part of 2 of them) long distance trips lined up next month. Every weekend we are out, all time zones covered. I promised Niks that I will buy her so she would something to do during long flights. I am thinking to buy a 16GB one for now (3G off course) and but IPAD2 for myself when it comes out

Re: IPAD, new or used.

it doesn’t have a usb port… unbelievable! :nahi:
hopefully they put one in ipad2

Re: IPAD, new or used.

Yaar TLK, you are answering all the questions yourself. You just said that you’re buying it for Niksik, they why does anyone has a say in the matter? She said she wants it new, so she gets a new one. How long have you been married again?

And Sahar02, wait for technology to come out? What a thing to say! :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: IPAD, new or used.

Pakwoman, I doubt if apple is going to do that. If they put USB port then the whole purpose of having 16GB, 32GB and 64GB is gone. That is how they make money by not giving you any option of external storage and let you upgrade through buying another Ipad/

Han yeah to sahee kahaa aap ne

Re: IPAD, new or used.

Thanks Tofi jee :flower1:

Re: IPAD, new or used.

Tariq, I have to say, I’m an Apple hater but I LOVE begum’s iPad. It has been a great purchase. We bought the wi-fi only 16 GB. So far we’ve never been in a place where we’ve needed or even wanted 3G and she still has 8 GB free. So, the price on that model is $499 + tax + case + tax. We bought one from our friend who is a high level executive at a major enterprise wireless company. He bought his full price and paid about $600 for the ipad and a VERY nice case and taxes. After a month of use he said he didn’t use it enough so sold all to us for $400 even, great deal.

The battery life is INCREDIBLE. It was a LIFE saver when we just flew to and back from Rome. There are a LOT of kids apps. Normally I don’t like Lila touching any computers or gadgets more because I want her to be more imaginative than that, but when she was trapped on a plane for 8.5 hours each way, it was a great solution. We put some Disney movies and games on it for her and she was fine for the whole trip, great!

It’s also GREAT for travel when you don’t want to take your laptop and just need something to look up things quickly and most hotels have wi-fi so it works out great. LOVE the thing.

Re: IPAD, new or used.

Thanks for a great testimony aahmed. We ended up buying ours yesterday from our local Apple store. 32GB + 3G. I spent 50 bucks for the case and another 50 for Ghost Armor protection.

Begum and kids are loving it. I have to install few apps as Niks want to use that instead of laptop for most of her stuff so I will mainly be installing Iworks or Quickoffice. I just need to figure out what app to use to print directly from the Ipad. We have two laser printers connected to our home network (we have Samsung and Cannon printers connected)
