Its time that Inzi takes some lesson from what is happening to Tendulkar. Its a shame to end a brilliant career in disgrace.
This happened to many players like Miandad.
In last few matches i have not seen Inzmaam chasing even a single ball. He appears to be struggling while running between wickets. And his fitness is only going to get worse.
He is not a versatile multitasking kind of person. Just a simple man with good cricketing skills. The thing is captaincy takes a lot of time and energy from you. Since October Inzimam has done alot off the field with Woolmar and Bari. I think this is taking toll at his batting. Dravid and earlier Ganguly and Tendulkar gone through the same phase when given a difficult task to captain a side in rebuilding phase OR full of politics.
He will be back once the team injury and pressure is shrudded off his shoulders.
He is going to retire after the world cup next year, so let him play till than, also when in full flow he is still a force to reckon with. We will definitely need him in England later on this year.
I hope you are not talking about Inzamam-ul-haq who plays for Pakistan national cricket team and the guy who has a average of 64 in his last 20 test matches and if you narrow it down it is 80 in his last 10 test matches.
Plz enlighten me what lesson he should learn form Tendi? Who has anaverage of 37 in his last 20 test matches and if you further narrow it down it is 28 in his last 10.
I am pretty sure the thread opener was talking not only about ODI but Test as well since he was comparing him with Tendi and I know Tendi has been miserable in test matches lately.
And TL bhai, if you want to talk abt ODI record, few failures shouldn't be a concern. If Inzi is a failure in ODI lately than better get rid of Younis and Yousif as well as their averages are even less than inzi's.
Khan bhai I never said anything about dropping Inzi. I just kept the ball rolling by stating that it in ODIs that his performance has deteriorated so the thread opener shouldn't have any complain considering his recent test performances! :)
than how come he has an average which is definitely highest among all Pakistan players in both test and ODI (with the exception of malik i guess) in the last 10 matches.
Injuries/fitness issues are part of a player career specially when he is toward the end of his career. That doesn't mean that he should be thrown out of the side just because he has an injury. And I don't think his fitness is such a big issue that people want him to retire. Did he miss a whole ODI series or a test series due to his fitness.
The only problem is his captaincy and people are linking his poor captaincy with his batting which is not fair.
Inzi is a great batsman no doubt about it, i remember when he made his debut, scoring 20 runds against West Indies and 60 in the next and i have been his fan since then. But during the whole indian tour and now in the three ODIs Inzi looked very unfit. I doubt if he is even participating in practice sessions. If he is injured he should take some time off and work on his fitness, but i considering his age and weight, i don't think he can reach a level of fitness, required for an international player.
My appologise from Inco. I just learned Inconoclast mian was in Antartica on a field mission during Pak-Eng series and the brilliance our heavy-weight captain showed with is bat.
As fkhan2 has already presendted Inzi's TEST record, here is Inzi's ODI record
Last 1 year
Games: 31
Runs: 1021
Avg: 42.54
Last 2 years
Games: 57
Runs: 1932
Avg: 42.93
Do you want him to score @ avg of 90/100 to keep his place in the team?
Now he is no fully fit .... but he normally compunsates more than ehough with the bat. He should take some time off and shoud be ready to play till WC 2007!!!
I kind agree with your explaination. Time off on a SL series is a good idea specially when we have Faisal Iqbal to prove his worth as a replacement for Inzi after his retirement. I think we can let the young guns to fire in these kinds of series. Inzi should prepare for huge English series ahead. Shed some pounds and take rest, specially unnecessary ODIs.
