Inzi bhai yet again hits the winning runs after a gruelling innings. I wonder how many times that other ‘great’ batsman called Sachin hit the winning runs for India. The averages, the number of centuries and 10,000 runs can kiss my ass…I would take Inzi over Sachin any day.
And the words of Lara from a fortnight ago ring into my ears..he said “take all my records and in return give me a winning West Indies team”
Cricinfo says " Another splendid performance from the big man has seen Pakistan through. Unruffled, despite all the commotion around him, he finished his job in style."
A typical inzi innings, never panic with all the wickets falling around he remaind calm, played ball at a time accumulated run at a time. today was the perfect day for him to get back into scheme of things as he was suffering from lack of form of late, and that exgatly what he did.
I observe most of the batsmens when they going through lean patch they try to hit out there way as they don't have enough confidence to survive that next ball, they appear rustic and try to make as much as they can while they are still at the crease but on the other hand class batsmen like inzi they know all they got to do is spend some time at the middle just get the feel of the things and they will be back.
coming to the threads discussion tendu opens the innings and how many times an opener can make winnig runs, but I think inzi can handle pressure situation better than tendu.
I think this impression of Sachin being a choker is not strictly true. He often opens for India and they have lost several one-day games in which he has scored hundreds. Inzi on the other hand comes at 3-down and is often there till the end to guide us thru. I think it has more to do with the team. The fact is that India’s seam bowling has never been good enough to consistently win them matches abroad. So no matter what Sachin does, I believe India will still lose most of the games. I am pretty sure people would have had the same impression of Inzi and Ponting if they were playing for India.
Sachin has been in indifferent form for 3-4 years and it would be fair to say that Ponting is currently the best batsman in the world. Not only Ponting but also Inzi, Lara, Yousuf, Dravid and Kallis have overshadowed Sachin during the past 3-4 years.
Remembr, these MoM are not awarded only when you were really the player behind his team’s victory, rather someone who shone on the day, esp if you hit a century… now, how many centuries has Tendu hit again?
pakistanis have waited so patiently for the over-the-hill, post-injury, out-of-form version of sachin to make their move with an "inzi is better!" comment.
haha.
but i agree...i would also take the current inzi over the current sachin.
I dont see any comparison between the two specially in the ODI format. It's like comparing apples to oranges. Sachin played most of his career with 3rd rate bowling attacks while Inzi played most of his life with some great bowlers in the Pakistan ranks. He started off when Imran was stil lthere, granted he wasnt at his peak as a bowler but he had Aaqib, Waqar and Wasim at that time, played with Wasim and Waqar throughout his career and now Shoaib.
Sachin played most his career batting higher in the order, either opened the innings or played one down while Inzi comes in @ #5, the chances of a #5 hitting the winning runs are hell of a lot better then an opener hitting the winning runs. Sachin over shadows everyone in the ODI format, he is head and shoulders above anyone. He has played many innings that would be match winning if
a) He had support from the other end.
b) The Indian bowler could do a good job.
I love Inzi's batting, I doubt there is anyone as calm as him in a pressure situation but honestly a comparison between between the two players is always going to bring Sachin on top, granted in the current form I'd take Inzi over Sachin but then again in Sachin's current form there are plenty of players I'd take over him like Hussey, Ponting, Sangakara etc.
I agree with Asif and Munda. It is essentially comparing appes to oranges. You seriously don't need to go any further than just pointing out the simple fact that Tendulkar is a opener where as Inzi comes in the middle of the order. It would be extremely hard to stay on the pitch for 45 odd overs on a consistent basis, even for a batsmen of Tendulkar's class.
But as aside, the Inzi of the last 2-3 years certainly out does the Tendu of the last 2-3 years (as to many other batsmen as well).
