Pakistan squad: Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Younis Khan, Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq, Shoaib Akhtar, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Rana Naved, Kamran Akmal (wkt), Imran Farhat, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Mohammad Hafeez, Rao Iftikhar.

Still no Shahid Nazir (an Aaqib Javed type bowler) in the squad. The persistence with Rao Iftikhar is beyond me.

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

Why the hell they pick Rao over Shahid Nazir? And what the hell is Imran Farhat doing in the squad?

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

I don’t see any change in the playing 11 for the Chamions Trophy matches, unless Malik or Hafeez really drops the ball and Imran Farhat replace one of them.
It beats me how Roa Iftikhar always manage to be a part of the touring party:mad:

Chanda!

‘Rao’ is one of the most politically influential families in Pakistan and I think this ‘Rao’ Iftekhar whatever has some secret connections to that political Rao group as well. Kindda tell us how our system works everywhere… you advance based on your connections… Then, we have other 16 members who seem to come only on merits but chaand (meri zameen): this Rao is really beginning to become like ‘one gandi machli’ now :naraz:

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

Where is chacha Arshad Khan. Is he going to be history or will he find place in the squad?

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

naa-shukray logon. Its celebration time. We have got rid of the biggest liability Salman Butt.

:bhangra:

And the other gem, Sami :k:

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

I am so glad they haven't recalled Butt. He needs to iron out his problems. He is definitely talented but needs to work on his few weaknesses and maybe come back stronger like Hafeez.

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

Well it was expected since both of them were not selected for the ongoing ODI series, but… with PCB you never know

so lets celebrate that we won’t be seeing Sami in champions trophy :dhimpak:

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

------------------cvabn------------------
Why can’t we have ‘Bugtti’s’ as openers or ‘Mangals’ Medium pacers, and importantly back door keeper 'Jatoi’s to mind the wickets.
Seems we have every thing else covered.

damn right Chanda (battery cell!)

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

INTERESTING! Kaneria is part of ODI squad for English conditions, but not even among 16 for subcontinent conditions. Now someone tell me what Kaneria is doing in ENG during ODI matches? probably BARI or SHERYAR can explain it better if they have balls.

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

What if someone gets injured as there is every possibility that this could happen. They may turn to Sami…however in the meantime yes :bhangra: as no Sami, Butt and chacha Arshad.

Inzamam to lead Pakistan in Champions Trophy

Pakistan announced a 14-man squad for next month’s Champions Trophy in India, retaining Inzamam-ul Haq as captain. Inzamam is set to face an International Cricket Council (ICC) code of conduct hearing at the end of this month and faces a possible suspension.

“We have proceeded as if Inzamam is available for selection,” Abbas Zaidi, director operations,PCB, told AFP.

Inzamam faces two charges after Pakistan forfeited the fourth Test against England at The Oval last month - for ball tampering and also for bringing the game into disrepute after refusing to take the field once umpires Darrell Hair and Billy Doctrove changed the ball on suspicions of ball tampering and awarded five penalty runs to England.

"There are no reservations over Inzamam’s captaincy and the PCB chairman has assured he would continue and if any other situation arises we will cross the bridge when it comes,’ added Zaidi.

If found guilty of ball tampering then Inzamam faces a fine of between 50 and 100 percent of his match fee and a one Test or two one-day international (ODI) ban. If found guilty on the second count he faces a ban of between two and four Test matches or four to eight ODI matches.

Pakistan’s squad for the Champions Trophy contains few surprises and only two changes from the team currently playing the ODI series in England. Shahid Yousuf and Danish Kaneria have been dropped.

Rao Iftikhar Anjum has been included in Pakistan’s final squad of 14 for the upcoming Champions Trophy. Anjum, the 25-year-old fast bowler, was in the original squad to tour England but left in the latter half of July owing to his father’s death.

Pakistan take on a qualifier at Jaipur on October 17 and meet New Zealand and South Africa in later matches. The final will be held on Nov. 5.

Pakistan squad 1 Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt) 2 Younis Khan, 3 Mohammad Yousuf, 4 Abdul Razzaq, 5 Shoaib Akhtar, 6 Shahid Afridi, 7 Shoaib Malik, 8 Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, 9 Kamran Akmal, 10 Imran Farhat, 11 Mohammad Asif, 12 Umar Gul, 13 Mohammad Hafeez, 14 Rao Iftikhar Anjum

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

I think that Shahid Nazir has played his last game for Pakistan in that controversial 4th test match. He will not be appearing again in the Pakistani colors for sure (but with PCB you never know). Anything is possible.

Shahid Nazir being selected for England was a surprise to most people to begin with. However, his exclusion from the 30 man ICC Trophy squad was an indication that the PCB no longer have him in their plans - and that was a surprise to most sensible of cricket fans.

Here was the original list of 30 probables for the Champions Trophy:
Pakistan probables Inzamam-ul-Haq (capt), Salman Butt, Imran Farhat, Taufeeq Umar, Mohammad Yousuf, Younis Khan, Faisal Iqbal, Asim Kamal, Bazid Khan, Kamran Akmal, Zulqarnain, Danish Kaneria, Shahid Afridi, Abdul Razzaq, Yasir Hameed, Shoaib Malik, Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Rana Naved-ul-Hasan, Mohammad Asif, Umar Gul, Rao Iftikhar Anjum, Mohammad Hafeez, Shahid Yousuf, Tahir Khan, Abdul Rehman, Mansoor Amjad, Mohammad Irshad, Akhtar Ayub, Samiullah Niazi.

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

I mentioned the same thing to my brother as soon as I saw the squad. Man this guy has a parcha coz even a parchi can’t last this long! :grumpy:

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

Sami is still in the selector’s plans though… As Ever :naraz: Sometimes I just feel like &^()$^&%)^&%^& N these selectors

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

OK WATS GOING ON WITH SULMAN BUTT????
IS HE UNFIT or BEING DROPPED????? i hope he is not droppedddd

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

Ok. Most probably Inzi would be cleared out and he'll be able to play all in the coming games but there is a slight chance that he can be banned. What would be the strategy then.
Would Pakistan not participate ....

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

Speed ka bacha panga dal raha heay...Allah is speed ko kaheen thikanay laga day (ameen)

Re: INZI to lead PAK in ICC Trophy

only if ICC will let him…with all this HO HA going on abt cheating and stuff i don’t think ICC will let inzi go off the hook that easily…they’d def slap him with 1-2 match ban…only to save some face or whatever is left…:shoaby:

in any case if inzi is found not guilty then will they revise the status of the 4th test match? n if they did wht will it be? the new status? draw? :emmy:
