Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

** **MUMBAI: Pakistan cricket team’s captain and experienced middle-order batsman Inzamam-ul-Haq was nominated on Wednesday by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the annual awards in as many as three categories.

Inzamam, a veteran of 101 Tests and having a hefty experience of 347 One-day Internationals, has been recommended for Player of the Year, Test Player of the Year, One-Day International Player of the Year awards by the ICC.

Also, England’s Ashes hero Andrew Flintoff had further cause for celebration on Wednesday when the ICC short-listed him for the Player of the Year award.

The burly all-rounder, whose 402 runs and 24 wickets in five Tests helped England win back the Ashes from Australia, was among seven cricketers nominated for the awards which will be announced in Sydney on October 11. His key Ashes performances, however, were not taken into account while choosing the nominees as the award only covers the period between August 1, 2004 and July 31, 2005.

The other five nominated for the prestigious award were reigning player of the year Rahul Dravid of India, Australians Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Glenn McGrath, and South African all-rounder Jacques Kallis.

The nominations for three other awards were also announced at a media conference here by the ICC official Jamie Stewart.

There were 15 nominees for the Test Player of the Year, including leg-spin wizard Shane Warne of Australia, prolific batsman Brian Lara of the West Indies and Virender Sehwag of India.

He may even win ODI player of the year award and that will be a big SLAP on the face of selectors of World XI.
GO INZI!!!
Only Inzi, Ponting and McGrath are nominated in all THREE categories.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

I would be surprised if Inzi wins any awards at all. The whole ICC setup is entirely undemocratic and works in mysterious and secretive ways. Its totally influenced by lobbying efforts of individual countries, and no one can accuse PCB of having any kind of influence or brains to promote Pakistan cricket or cricketers at the ICC level.

hey

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

I don’t know about Inzi’s performance compared to the likes of Kallis and Dravid but Kevin Pietersen is definetly going to win the emerging player award in the other catagory.

:k:

But its good to see that our Iron man gets these many nominations. Also there are other Paki players too :jhanda: shabaash! naam roshan karo mulk ka aur sirf mulk ke liye khelo.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

And Flintoff for the Player of the Year, not only because he is a an excellent player and deserves that but also the fact that he plays for ECB :)

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

Well Flintoff deserves it...
Warne, Inzi and Vaasi have had good seasons too...
And Pieterson is a good bet for emerging player and one day player...

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

Adam Gilchrist (AUS) is also nominated in all THREE categories.
I think that Vaas also deserve place in WorldXI for ODI.
Inzamam will win INSHALLAH any of the award.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

Inzi deserves to win at least one award, but I wouldn't be surprised if he is completly IGNORED on the day.
Who the hell cares anyway, he is still our champ. Go Inzi. Phuck those biatches.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

salaam! namaskar!

Flintoff for Player of the year.
Should consider Dhoni in Emerging Players.

Bye

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

They are ICC awards not BIRLA TATA AWARDS

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

lol@fkhan
But Booze is right, Dhoni is indeed one of the best yongsters who came on the scene this year.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

Dhoni didn’t do much this year to become eligible for the emerging player award however still at the monthly birla tata awards he would have got the emerging player of the year award.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

He hasn't played much plus has not proved to be that good of a player to consider for the award.

He was introduced against Pakistan. After only one hundered and he was exposed to Pakistani bowlers thats why after that he failed.

Against Sri Lanka he failed

Now against Zim he had success but than thats Zim says it all.

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

Who cares even if he was nominated, it was just a formality anyway.
I mean Pietersen wins the award hands down, no one even comes closer.

On a side now, what is Ian useless Bell doing there??? And if Dinesh Kartik and Gautam Gambhir are nominated then why not Kamran Akmal and Salman Butt??? ( I know these 2 haven't done much but neither did Gambir and Kartik).

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

Dhoni is like Taufeeq Umar

Re: Inzi nominated for 3 categories in ICC awards

the only trophy inzi will get is a cold-shoulder and nothing else :D :p
