Re: Inzi and Road to World Cup
Much has been said in favor and against Inzi's leadership, both sides make good arguments except for the religion part simply because the best teams in the world like Australia, South Africa are good because they are professional cricketers, great WI of the seventies was full of talented professionals, religion was never made an issue. Only reason religion is used by Pak fans is because in our current state of affairs it sounds better and makes Inzi sort of the Caliph who is respected and adored by his disciples. Well, this calipha is no Caliph he is a very ordinary captian with very little scruples when it comes to dealing with his likes and dislikes. No one can deny that Mushtaq Ahmed elevation to asst coach position had nothing to do with Inzi. In fact it had everything to do with Inzi, another related event to MiniMe hiring was elevation of Aqib Javed to Chief Coach of NCA and that was done against the wishes of Inzi and who forced Mushy as a quid pro quo.
We all keep on making references to the WC03 debacle, well Inzi was part of that unit also lest we forget. It was Rashed Lateef who had revived Inzi's career post WC03, had it not been Rashed Lateef Inzi had been put in the freezer, then we all know how Inzi treated Rashed his guardian angel by having him removed from the team, permantly because he commanded respect of the players which Inzi cud never achieve. Only way Inzi commands respect is thru his list of very strong likes and dislikes, complete disregard of merit and what is good for Pakistan. Add to that and our spineless Pcb surrendering all authority to one lone individual.
WC07 is just around the corner, lets see how Pak team performs, assuming we suffer the same fate as WC03 wud that mean team is disunited and religion has failed or Inzi as a captian has failed? I wud say the latter cause religion has nothing to do as to how well u play or how bad u play if that was the case then the christian world wud be claiming victory.
To me this is team Inzi, not team Pakistan.
