Yassir while I agree with the points you have raised, I feel that you are overplaying this Waqar saga. Do you really have proof that Inzi got him sacked just to bring in Mushtaq? Was Inzi even responsible for it? Inzi might not be a very dynamic captain but at least he has brought stability to the team unlike Younis who really showed what he was just before the ICC trophy. every one is to be blamed including Waqar.
Younis doesn't use the principle of Dahooty in the office. It was ill advised refusal but atleast he got the guts to make such decision even if he knew his place in the side will be on stack. Thats call Pathan!!!!!!!!!! I shouldn't be missing with this site narrow minded admins, but unfortunately I may not be diplomatic like a civilized citizen of Karachi or Punjab (don't mean all Karachi or all punjab; I do know many good people in those parts too).
Ehsan Bhai if you watch the video of the program which aired on the Geo Cricket channel…Waqar kept asking Saleem Altaf that who’s decison was it to not have Waqar with the team for ODI’s in SA…and Altaf kept saying it was the managment’s decison and nothing further. Near the end of the show, Waqar finally got frustarted and said that he know’s Inzi and Bob wanted Mushtaq in the team and thus, they talked to Nasim Ashraf and then they came to a conclusion that keep Waqar behind and send Mushtaq.
Fakhr-e-Alam asked Waqar if he knew this, why didnt he say this earlier and Waqar said because he wanted to hear it from Saleem Altaf’s mouth, but if he doesn’t wanna say it I’ll say it myself because I’ve been with the team and I know Inzi is more comfortable with Mushtaq.
It is so obvious, when bowlers like Gul, Rana are were crediting their much improved bowling to Waqar in the previous ODI series, the next ODI series Waqar gets asked to stay back in Pakistan. Isn’t that strange? I had my doubts about Inzi’s involvment in this, and after Waqar has confirmed it on national television and Saleem Altaf couldn’t respond in any way to his accusations. To what extent is Bob’s involvment in this, I dont know…but it seems like Bob could care less about everything right now and is just waiting for his contract to finish after the WC. Maybe even he’s tired of all this drama.
Once again, I will say its all speculation, but the whole situation sounds fishy. We will probably never know why Younis rejected captaincy…but their must be a strong reason for it. It is everyone’s dream to be a captain of their nation’s team…and I’m sure Younis is not stupid enough to let that opportunity go for something little or something meanigless. Thats my prespective of the whole thing…what the truth is…only god knows…or the players know themselves…but as they say…actions speak louder than words and I have never seen Inzi asking Younis for advice on the field…its always Yousuf who Inzi talks to…and that shows something is not right.
Much has been said in favor and against Inzi's leadership, both sides make good arguments except for the religion part simply because the best teams in the world like Australia, South Africa are good because they are professional cricketers, great WI of the seventies was full of talented professionals, religion was never made an issue. Only reason religion is used by Pak fans is because in our current state of affairs it sounds better and makes Inzi sort of the Caliph who is respected and adored by his disciples. Well, this calipha is no Caliph he is a very ordinary captian with very little scruples when it comes to dealing with his likes and dislikes. No one can deny that Mushtaq Ahmed elevation to asst coach position had nothing to do with Inzi. In fact it had everything to do with Inzi, another related event to MiniMe hiring was elevation of Aqib Javed to Chief Coach of NCA and that was done against the wishes of Inzi and who forced Mushy as a quid pro quo.
We all keep on making references to the WC03 debacle, well Inzi was part of that unit also lest we forget. It was Rashed Lateef who had revived Inzi's career post WC03, had it not been Rashed Lateef Inzi had been put in the freezer, then we all know how Inzi treated Rashed his guardian angel by having him removed from the team, permantly because he commanded respect of the players which Inzi cud never achieve. Only way Inzi commands respect is thru his list of very strong likes and dislikes, complete disregard of merit and what is good for Pakistan. Add to that and our spineless Pcb surrendering all authority to one lone individual.
WC07 is just around the corner, lets see how Pak team performs, assuming we suffer the same fate as WC03 wud that mean team is disunited and religion has failed or Inzi as a captian has failed? I wud say the latter cause religion has nothing to do as to how well u play or how bad u play if that was the case then the christian world wud be claiming victory.

Whine and complain. If there was anything Pakistani fans were good at, it is this. If professionalism is the reason than England should be the best team in the world, just think if Pakistan went through a loss like them? But no, I have my reservations against captain and I will mention it hundred times, even though hundred times facts prove it otherwise because God knows better, speculations prove it otherwise, and facts in front of me I won’t take.
Every cricketer is judged on how he gets back up when down and this team has proved that. The team was down and out when Inzamam took over and now it is one of the top three teams in the world, with one the best middle order and if healthy the best strike bowlers. Nobody had even imagined after ’03 that we could be a contender and now we are, but only us who will continue to complain.
Inclusion of religion that we Pakistani despise so much is ridiculous. Nobody in the team, especially the captain has ever chosen a player on that basis and nobody to this date has ever complained that discrimination occurs due to being religious or non-religious.
Go watch Super bowl and see the last speech, quarter back and coach thank god, the same team talk god through out their season, but nobody said it is Christians who won rather the team. If religion plays a role in uniting the team, fans should appreciate that but, it is only us who are embarrassed of religion and team.
The dopey Inzi is simply a coward and dictator.
If he gives up captaincy who do YOU think should be captain? Remember, we are talking about "Pakistani" team, where a senior (by age and not talent) is the only one respected by colleagues. There would be another power struggle post-Inzi since rest of the team would comprise of same age-group and same-time-frame-debuts.
A 'coward' and a 'dictator'? isn't that an oxymoron?
Waqar resigned mainly because he was insulted by PCB.
The only reason he criticize Woolmer is because he thinks that Woolmer was more comfortable with Mushtaq, who was willing to go all the way with him not just be a bowling coach.
Waqar criticized Inzamam only because he failed to inform him of the decision during the Hajj where he was staying with Saeed Anwar. Did Inzamam only know about it? Nobody knows, only speculation of Waqar.
So, main reason of Waqar resignation is PCB’s insulting behavior and unprofessional way of handling a situation, first the talk on the phone, second the way message was delivered when Waqar Younis was on Hajj.
I briefly watched Waqar video, and personally think Waqar is very cheap, unprofessional and immature, especially if he is signing a contract he should knew all the terms and conditions of the contract. he should have objected to the contract in first place if he didnt like it. Secondly, instead of making accussations, if he knew Woolmer and Inzi are not comfortable with him around the team, long long ago he should have informed PCB in a more professional way. Thirdly, Pakistani team officials (and PCB for recieving and reviewing) should develop a habit of providing report after every major trip/series and event. These officials should include every one such captain, manager, coach, assistant coach, bowling coach, fielding coach and most importantly physio and trainers. There should be some one with power and authority in PCB to deligently review these reports and execute prompt actions in light of such reports.
From Waqar interview on the show it seems like no one read or write anything, they just tell each others, ok you go on this trip and give a statement to the press that these all are going, and then when tour is over, only Manager write his report regarding discipline of the team, and in most cases it always say everything were well disciplined, unless a manager want to be fired or something came out in press then they mention it.
In brief, one can say whole PCB and officials with team including captain is BULL ****.
Its all bowling injuries. Pakistan has so many injuries and disturbance that it bears down all the players. I still believe Waqar is the better bowling coach than Mushtaq but to blame Inzamam is too much
Though Inzi is playing a role in all these decisions making but I do agree we shouldn't blame Inzi rather ballless PCB should be blamed. If Inzi is playing such dirty games, then why don't PCB teaches him a lesson.
If Australia could play without Warne, India could play without Gangully and WI could play without Lara (all three due to descipline issues at some stages) then why not PCB take steps and teaches lessons to players like Inzi and to some extent they are teaching Akhtar.
