MANCHESTER: The Pakistan cricket team captain Inzamam-ul-Haq can join Test cricketís top ten run-getters of all time if he gets an aggregate of 150 in the second Test against England at Old Trafford.
Inzamam, who has 8391 runs from 110 Tests, is currently placed at number 12 in the list of all-time Test run scorers. Currently in terrific form, Inzamam just needs to score 73 runs in the match to overtake Englandís Alec Stewart and 150 to reach 10th spot ahead of the West Indian great Viv Richards.
Inzamam has been in his element against England since Pakistan lost against them at Lordís five years back. Since then, he has played five Tests against England and has reached the fifty mark in all nine innings.
The run feast for the Multan player against England began at Old Trafford in 2001 and his scores against the home team since then are 114-85, 53-72, 109-100 (not out), 97, 69-56 (not out) for a grand total of 755 at an amazing average of 107.85.
** Another interesting piece of fact is that Pakistan have never lost a match at Old Trafford**. They have previously played four Tests here since 1954. The first three Tests, in 1954, 1987, 1992, were drawn. Pakistan finally ended the boring run in 2001 when they came here after suffering a defeat by a innings at Lordís in the opening Test of a two-match series.
England seemed to be heading for a draw with 196-2 at tea on the final day. A draw would have given them a run of five consecutive series wins for the first time in 30 years. But Pakistan ripped through the England batting line-up in the final session to secure a 108-run triumph.
