**ABU DHABI: The Pakistan team found itself embroiled in a controversy following skipper Inzamam-ul Haq’s mysterious absence from two important meetings on the eve of the first cricket one-dayer in the DLF Cup against India.
Inzamam skipped the match referee’s meeting and the press conference.**
He remained untraceable thereafter, according to team sources.
“He has been unavoidably delayed,” coach Bob Woolmer said after Inzamam failed to turn up in time for the mandatory pre-match captains’ press conference.
“He is aware of the meeting with the press,” said Woolmer.
Later, it was revealed that Inzamam had not attended the crucial match referee’s meeting as well.
“It is really strange, the referee’s meeting was very crucial,” sources close to the team said.
**“We intimated him about the meeting but now we are unable to trace him. We are looking for him,” they said.
thats pretty strange, maybe he went to see the underground (sea) tunnel, that is a lovely thing! and on a serious note, he wanted a piece of mind, I suspect some fiasco in the team and thats:nono3: good at all!
^ I dont think anybody can afford to have friction with Inzi in the Pak team. We have seen examples being made in Akhtar and god knows who else. I think current Paki team is one of the most united teams in recent history.
This is not the only time he has done this. He is not creating a good image of himself as well as the team. After this series, Pakistans next series is away in England and if he does something similar again - the tabloid newspapers are likely to exploit the issue and again portray him and the rest of the Pakistan team in a negative way. What is the Pakistan management doing about this?? Nothing I suppose and they need to take this matter seriously.
